So why would someone cut three evenly spaced, equally deep notches into the wood forearm of a CETME rifle?

Think my supposedly new rifle has seen some "experience"?

How many dates the previous owner went on before he sold the rifle.

Because he wanted to show pictures of the "mysterious markings" on his CETME?

Negative. I don't crave attention THAT bad.

Actually seen similar on Soviet era AK74 buttstocks that came via Afganistan.... They are not tick marks, but rather some sort of field made checkering to enable the soldier to grip the handguards better...

Thats if they are original, and not added later by Bubba....

That shows how many zombies the previous owner got.

How many enemies of Franco's fascist state the rifle claimed?
Or maybe Basque seperatists.

+1  but the ones I've seen are usually either on both sides or there are more of them.

My gut feeling is that it fell against something with that pattern like a radiator or something with ridges like that.

That kinda looks like my old CETME. Sold it. It was always a piece of shit and I cut notches in it to test out a new Benchmade.

My guess would be a storage rack or vehicle rack that it was store in, biting a bit hard into soft wood.

Why do they look fresh in the close-up picture?

Wait....why do I care?

nevermind

A 20rd mag and THREE possum kills? Maybe it was a good thing he sold it, then.

the dealer did it.  he figured some slub would think they were kill marks and pay an extra $500 for the "experienced" rifle.

No, bought it on the net. Didn't see it in the pics.

Personally, I am leaning toward the "Zombie kills" explanation.

Well, if you look at the first pic, you can see they've been there a while. The reason they look so "fresh" in the other two is because I used a flash, and not in the first.

Besides, I don't deface my guns!
