Here at Lackland AFB and I graduated from BMT yesterday. I just thought I needed to share.
 I'll be shipping to Keesler on Wednesday. Until then I still have to roll my damn shirts and adjust my hanger spacing. Whoooo hoooo!!! |

I was there oct 68-june 69 in basic electronics school. One of the best times in my life. In class at 0600, out at 1200 and off until the next morning except for one formation after lunch. I lived in barracks 2109 with 99 other guys from all over the USA. You could buy 5 beers for a quarter at the airmans club. Hope you have half the fun I did. I later went into a fighter wing of F100s, then F4s in Nam and then a U2 wing at Davis Monthan. The U2 wing was the best and most professional bunch of people I have ever been around...ever. Thanks for being a GI. Stay safe. No matter where you go or how bad things may get, always remember most of the people in this country love you guys. Merry Christmas.

323/B077 (Band flight, bitches) I didn't get expert, shooting with that gas mask on threw my groups exactly 1" over and like 3" high. I missed all 10 gas mask qual shots and scored 40/50 I did graduate A1C, so I'm wearing stripes. |

Let me get this straight.
You guys actually get to email and surf the net while in basic training??? Wow! Things have changed. We used to have our mail (letters) smuggled out of the barracks by the fire guard at night! Congrats on gradding-out with rank; it won't mean shit in tech school, but the pay is better. I was in the 3706th BMTS back in 1990, it was the squadron with the Drum and Bugger Corps. I heard they had buses that used to take them from one class to another while in basic so they didn't have to walk  Just kidding (not really I actually heard that) but thanks for serving, you guys have great golf courses ( I have played on several )

We never got internet access when I was in AF BMT. The only computer I saw was the one my TI typed on to write my LOR. When I was in tech school I had to use the computers at the base library and that old woman would yell at me for being on too long. We didnt roll our shirts either. We folded ours in those ridiculous 6 inch squares. We wasted so much time in basic. Thetime spent there could have been better used. Like actually teaching us about the military. Every other branch uses the time to teach their recruits valuable skills. No, the Air Force had classes on healthy living and how to read an LES. Its shit like thats why the AF has so many problems with discipline and retention. Yeah Im a little disgruntled, Im in the Security Forces.

321 TRS Flight 075 January '97 here. Rolling your shirts, huh? I heard they were doing away with folding into squares but I didn't know it had happened yet. I still have one of my t-shirts. You can be glad you missed that stupid shit, pulling on the edges with tweezers to get at exactly six inches or whatever it was.

At a wedding a few months ago, I was in my (Army) dress blues. complete with sabre. For the ignorant, they have 'US' pins on the lapels. The Mother of Bride, wife of US Secret Service type was chatting with me. "Are you back from Iraq for good?" "Yes. Unless they decide I need to do another tour, of course" "And you're out of the Army after this?" "No, no.. I'm still in. Have to go to training every month" "You fly back to Ireland every month for training?" *Pause* Then the penny dropped... I finally figured out her confusion... "This is an AMERICAN uniform..." I happen to think that whilst the Marines have got better Class As/Bs, the Army Blue is nicer than the Marine one. NTM |

My bud just graduated from BMT at Lackland in October. I'll be there soon, as long as I get through MEPS alright. BTW, my friend in the USMC, whose stationed at Goodfellow AFB said that the AF just added a week to BMT, from 6 to 7. Is that true? |

Here's just the active duty USAF:Approx number 750 F-16's 510 T-38's 400 F-15C's 235 KC-135's 220 F15E's 190 C-130's 145 A-10's + 70 OA-10's 120 C-17's 130 C-5's 85 B-52's 65 B-1's 55 F-117's approx total:3075 Now these are just the more common ones from USAF Fact sheet If you think the USN has more then you're on some serious drugs.
