I came home from work today to find my dog laying down and not moving.  This was strange behaviour for her because she is usually straining against her cable to see me. She has a 140' long and 12' wide cable run which keeps her on my property like a good neighbor should but gives her plenty of room to run around.  One of my neighbors has a pack of hounds that he lets run loose and I think they got my dog down and worked her over bad.  There is eight of them and the least of them is about 80#. My dog is about 50#.  She looked like she had been hit with a load of number 4 shot, she had so many puncture wounds and there were at least four cuts or tears on her as well.  The worst was about 8" long and at least 1-1/2" deep.  It was into the muscle a good bit. The punctures are over 75% of her body. Looks like at least 50 of them. $168 for the vet to check her out, clean the wounds and administer antibiotics. They wont stitch the wounds because they say that deep tissue wounds heal better unstitched. News to me.

The sheriff said that there was nothing that they could do unless we actually saw the dogs and knew who owned them. He did say that I should shoot any animal that was attacking or destroying my property.  The law allows for that but guarantees nothing on the civil suit aspect of shooting someone elses animal.

These hounds will have to go if this asshole wont keep them off of my property. I have nearly had to shoot them once before when they charged after me in my own pasture.  Hw knows that they are agressive because he has seen them and called them off several times.

You need a few more big ass dogs, like some Black Russian Terriers or Rotties to protect the little one from those hounds. Sounds horrible. Good luck with your girl. Hope she heals up quick.

Man, so sorry to hear about your dog.  Is there anyway you can prove it was the neighbor's dog and get the authorities involved?  Get the neighbor to pay for the vet bills, or be made to control his animals?

That whole scenario sucks.
