We have a random password generator for folks who forget their passwords on the system I use.  Today, one of the phone guys IM's me and says he's just talked to the VP of a large client, who was rather "irate" about something.  my guy is laughing his ass off...so he forwards me a password change email.

I started laughing too, of course.

Your password has been reset. When you log in next time please use
this password: Jr3dUqw3Cunt

Too bad the recipient was the wife of a friend of the HR's department....

It was quickly filed as a bug with development.

I was haveing an IM conversation with a female engineer and I said:

Me: What about the Circuit Cunt?
Me: Count
Her(after about 30 seconds of waiting, me panicing): blah blah blah blah like nothing happened

Either, 1, she knows me and knows it was an accedent
2, she is Indian and that word does not mean anything to her.

Either way, it was several months ago and nothing came of it.

So what do you have to do - create a program that inspects the random password generated and do a filter screen of known bad words that might me randomly assembled?

Probably just use a filter for three-letter combos that we want to filter...hit uck unt ock, etc...

Looks like there's a bug in the password generator. It left out a comma and a space after "Jr3dUqw3".

Yeah I was going to tell FAL that I added the comma, but you're right.  I'll be sure to get dev on that bit too....

This is funny, but also the reason I design password retrieval into every system we write/configure.  We base it upon either an email address or a challenge/response type question.

What is your favorite food:  any

Most of the end users of our system can figure the recovery bit out, but there's always the 5% who need a clue to remember their recovery answer to 'My dog's name" is 'Fluffy I Love you!!!!1!'

Probably more ironic than funny but I had a password once of:

B52PAX

I guess a B-52 can bring peace.
