I'm going to pick up a G26 for CCW purposes.  I'm going to get it from topglock.com, and they install any custom/aftermarket stuff for free.  I'm picking up the G26, a few spare mags, extended slide release, and the trijicon night sights.  

Question:  Should I have them install the 3.5lb spring or stick with the factory 5.5?


Here's what I got.  

GLOCK 26, (9mm) left it all stock, no fancy trigger or enhancements, comes with 2 factory 10 round magazines.

Trijicon "novak" style (anti-snag) night sights, installed by topglock

2, 12 round G26 magazines

1, 17 round glock magazine and the sleeve to make it fit correctly and feel like a fullsize grip.

1, 33round glock 18 magazine (just for fun!)

1, magazine extended grip

So the gun, night sites, and 6 magazines totalled $673 with shipping, no sales tax.  Not bad considering my local guy wanted $560+tax for just a stock gun.  

Carry gun?  Leave the trigger stock... it's not that bad.

the 5.5 works just fine, IMO, and for me, because I have big hands the extended slide CATCH sometimes gets in the way.  You do not need it as a release as you want to grab the slide with your not shooting hand as a gross motor skill to release it.

I prefer my 3.5lb trigger, but that's me.  just buffing up the 5.5 trigger will make it smoother.  However what you may wanna try is the 3.5 pound connector with a NY1 trigger spring.  The resulting trigger is 5.5lbs but it is smooth like a DA revolver and not like the typical (for lack of a better word) two stage Glock trigger.

The only safety is the trigger, you dont want it too light.

Agreed, except the Trijicon sights are excellent in no/low light.

All three of my Glocks (17, 20, and 26) are bone stock. I've had the 17 since 94 and have upwards of 50 thousand rounds through it. The only thing that's ever broken are the cheep plastic sights. Have topglock send you a few xtra sights (front and rear) and the tools you need to remove/install them.
Leave everything else alone.

Just get the sights - and a few mags-  if they offer you a discount on a 3.5lb connector pick it up on the side (or wait and get a scherer 3.5 later).  

That and the extended slide release (not sure why you'd want that on a CCW piece anyway) are very easy to install yourself.  

Don't buy any parts unless they're going to give the originals back to you to keep.

Mags are good!  Get at least 6 total.  See if you can get a couple of +2 mag bottoms too (they'll fit on the 10 rounders).

Have a G19 and added some stuff to it, just like you may be planning.

Trust me, save the $$ and leave it stock, get a couple extra mags, 19s or 17s for back up carry.

Or a good kydex holster for CC.

Stay with the stock trigger on a Glock.

I put the 3.5 in mine and could not be more happier...it breaks at 4 LBs and that's fine with me.
