Plenty of southern democrats are anti abortion and pro gun. They are democratic because of the stance on economics.

the original definition of "liberal" is opposite from most of what the democratic party stands for today.
the original "liberals" would be closer to today's libertarians than anything else. it's a damn shame that the leftists have stolen the term "liberal", i cringe whenever i hear it nowadays because it is almost always used to describe something contradictory to it's original meaning. |
