I was looking through shotgun news and saw a couple stripped recievers and parts kits and was wondering if anyone has tried this and how difficult it is. I think it would be fun to have an UZI. Any first hand info or link will be appreciated.

You can buy one for same money as you can build one up.

Most the parts kits are subguns and many of those parts can not be used for construction.

Finding semi auto parts is hard. It can be done if you really like tinkering but if saving money on an UZI is your goal than just find yourself a nice IMI gun for around $1200

Short answer--No.

Long answer--by the time you buy the receiver, get someone who can competantly weld it up (assuming you get a blank receiver), a parts kit, AND enough US made parts to be legal (a lot of the parts kit parts are not legal for use in a semi-auto), and you have the welded  up folding stock (can't fold or it is an assault weapon) or fixed stock, you are into the $1000 range, and might as well buy a factory pre-ban IMI UZI.
