I like it, click here!
What do you guys/gals think? I saw this live at the recent Motor Trend International Auto Show a few weeks ago. In the middle of a conversation with my wife, I spotted it across the showroom floor and totally cut my wife off and bulldozed my way through the crowd to get an up close look at it. Because of my actions, my wife hates it. She sees it as something that I will buy in the future that will take time away from her..... |
Considering it is "TRAIL RATED" I hope it doesn't make you catch "teh ghey".
Maybe you should consider getting a... um... a Hummer! |
Panzermallwagen
I've seen them driving around here... They're OK looking but until I see that one has made it up the Rubicon whole, I'm skeptical. |
Jezz, If I had a choice between an H2 (Realtors love this thing for some reason) and a sappy 5 cyl H3 or a Jeep Commander. I think the choice is obvious. |
It kind of looks a little bit like the old Toyotas, except ugly.
lots of headroom, but a low windshield. Hard for me to see very well.
I think it looks a lot like the old Isuzu Trooper. I'll stick with my YJ and Rubicon.
I read a motortrend article that had the H3 and Nissan Xterra rating higher overall than the commander. The Xterra got SUV of the year.

Tell it to the Marines, they just ordered more Jeeps |
meh- I'm not impressed with it. There is just something not quite right with the dimensions of it.
I agree. The third row seats look ridiculous. Looks like anyone over 5'0" will have their knees touching their chin if they sat back there. I would just leave it folded down for more cargo room. |
I would have rather seen a real replacement for the Cherokee (which the Liberty wasn't) rather than a "7" passenger Jeep. I will admit the Commander looks better in person than the pics I saw, if that is any consilation. I'm just hoping Jeep doesn't pussify the new Wrangler too much...I'm not like the idea of the Liberty V6 replacing the straight 6...
I saw one today and my first reaction was "man, that is UGLY". The only thing uglier would be a Land Rover. Why would Jeep make such an unattractive vehicle?
drove one when my wife and I were shopping a few weeks ago
didn't like it. didn't feel stable it's built on the Cherokee frame it did have a nice interior kind of reminded me of an older range rover |
AGNTSA |
+1 They should do that across the board. I drove a Liberty CRD and it was sweeeeeeeet! Enough diesel clatter at idle, but smooooooth on the road. 295 lb-ft of torque didn't hurt either. |
Fucking priceless! Once I get a Scout again, I'm gonna need that sticker! |
I have a
2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited 2000 Cherokee 2005 Wrangler Sport Dont have room for a Commander at this point. |
LOL. |
Ugly as hell! Now the the Grand Cherokee SRT-8 on the other hand............
I'm going to ask my local dealer if I can take one for a test drive to the lake (read in the lake) so I can look at the fishies.
My 5.7L sucks the hell out of the gas, I couldnt' imagine what the 6.1 would drink. But those Dubs sure are cool. |
My friend owns a Jeep dealership. He had a row of new Commanders out front next to the road on display. 90 something old lady decides the left side of the road suites her driving style better. She ran another woman in Suburban off the road, into the row of Commanders. Slammed into one, pushed it into another. He's still fighting with the insurance companies over that one.
Semper Fi |

Yeah, the Commander looks a little weird. I really like the Rescue and the Gladiator concept trucks.
I doubt it's built on the Cherokee frame as it's much larger then a cherokee ever thought to be. |
It's only 2 inches longer than the Cherokee, but it's much taller......and it's on the exact same wheelbase. That's probably why it drives like crap |
Looks terrible and outdated already. Pimp wheels really need to go.
It's DC's attempt at making a large(r) SUV that can exploit the 'Jeep' name. Move along, nothing to see here, about 10 years too late...
Four things you Always see on a Jeep...1. TEMP TAGS. 2.FOR SALE SIGN. 3. WHITE RAG OUT THE WINDOW.4. A TOW TRUCK..
I really wanted to like the Commander. I'll keep my Jeep Cherokee thank-you very much.
Come on Jeep, make something cool again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually the Rubicon Unlimited is pretty cool. |
I'd take whatever that concept was that was just a frame and wheels with 2 hemis back to back!
It's built on the Grand Cherokee floorpan. No Jeep, except the Wrangler, has a separate frame. They are unitbodies. |
Looks like some mutant Trooper with aspirations of becoming an H3
I'll stick with my Xterra, thanks! |
For Christ sake, it's still a Chrysler product.
Run away as fast as you can! And there isn't enough Mercedes Benz in the world that can rub off to fix those POS Jeeps. |
Yes, those are sweet. |
Please elaborate. I have owned Jeeps for years, and have had them serviced at all scheduled intervals and not one problem. So - are you one of those people that have never owned a jeep but constantly bash it? Or did you have a bad experience with a jeep? if so which one? and surely you can find fault in any make or model of vehicle but that does not mean they are all bad. Certain years, yes. Certain things are wrong - but not the whole line. |
Yes, please elaborate. I've been driving Jeeps since 1982 and I still have my one Jeep since 95 (Sahara). Beside tires, brake pads and oil changes I haven't had a problem with it. Just regular maintenance items. Actually, I like my 95 so much I just bought another one this year, a 2005 Rubicon and gave my old one to my son. I've never heard any major complaints about the I6 engine that's in them. Well, no complaints from people that have actually had them or worked on them. |
