ok, it's getting close to the end of the year.

I archive searched up as many old "new years resolution" threads as I could find.

Come, wallow in your failure.

I am making a pledge to anyone here that I will stick to my New Years Resolution. No more junk food.

NO MORE:

McDonalds
Burger King
Carls Jr
Taco Bell
Del Taco (Oh it hurt to say that one)

UNTIL I LOSE 35 pounds. Anyone else have a resolution that they want to bet against me in? I will take any of your word here... all on trust... Oh and DFD will rat me out in a second if I fail.

Anyone up to a challenge? or are you just WEAK?

My girlfriend and I just ate our last fastfood meal at Wendy's two days before the new year. Now it'll be only cooking at home or at nice restraunts. I've also sworn off soda (she's keeping her diet soda).

I've sworn off sodas too. My dentist said 85% of cavities in kids are due to sodas. My poor kids have to do with out too!

What are yours?

For me:

1) wife & I just completed Red Cross 1st Aid & CPR courses

2) going to sign up for the Red Cross Wilderness Aid course

3) get my medical conditions fixed.

4) committment to get in better shape (a standard resolution)

5) eating better

6) take additional firearms training courses

7) get out camping and shake out the gear more

Good topic and your list made me think of a few that I need to accomplish:
1) Finish interior and exterior of walk-in gun vault/storm shelter.

2) Organize the basement so I can find all my equipment so I don't just go out and buy something I already have.

3) Build up our food and water supply in the pantry and vault.

4) Commit to becoming more educated and informed on survival and firearms, getting in better shape mentally as well as physically.

5) Finish the interior of the ambulance box so it'll be more self-contained and sufficient as a SHTF (Snow Hits The Fan)/camping/BOV.

6) Commit to spending $100/month of my "fun" money towards ammo and other firearms supplies as the wife would just as soon not know how much I spend on that stuff.

7) Last but certainly not least...continue paying off our debt and setting aside more funds for an emergency.

I'm sure I'll think of more when I see what everyone else lists.

1) Get in better physical condition.

2) Quit drinking so much soda.

3) Get combat-worthy guns, specifically an SU-16, CZ-75B, WASR-10, etc.

4) Stock up on ammo, minimum of a thousand rounds per caliber (minus the .264 and .45-70).

5) Practice more. I can hit what I aim at, but my grouping is terrible.

6) Get more gear: ALICE pack, BDU's, new belt, better boots (current ones less than six months old and already wearing apart and they SMELL awful. Had the same problems last time I bought the same boots, so I don't think I'll be getting any more of them.), more magazines, better binoculars, camelbak, a better sleeping bag, get my tent waterproofed (it comes waterproof, but I always make sure mine won't let any moisture in, period).

7) Stock up on gear I'm less likely to need: K-Pot, kevlar vest, etc. Do this all after I've got the more important stuff.

Goal: Accomplish this by the time I graduate in 2007. Have the guns by summer of 2006, start getting them in summer of 2005. Everything else, acquire along the way.

Diet will be healthy and only healthy.

Exercise will be frequent and often and varied.

CCW course will be taken and I will get my permission to carry in this stupid state regardless of the in car carry restrictions.

My gear is a bit piece meal and not very good in bad weather conditions. I am upgrading things like sleeping bag and what not to improve my gear. I will make a truck bag with the left overs. The rest of the clutter in the gear room is going to go since I just have way too much of some stuff.

1) Lose weight
2) Eat better (see #1)
3) Be more active (see #1)
4) Finish my BS CS and find a job

Assuming I don't royally fark up the two classes I've got left, #4a will be finished in may, and over the last week I've found a bunch of foods I like that aren't as bad for me and acquired the parent's old home gym....so maybe #2 and #3 will be accomplished, leading towards #1.

OH! Shit, you meant SURVIVAL-SURVIVAL...

I thought you meant things you are hoping to do to survive in LIFE... I'm just barely hanging in there as far as living within the constraints of modern society, and I've first got to secure those things before I can truly afford to work toward other "Wilderness Survival" type new-years resolutions... YMMV.

Get a functioning BOB. Use it often and refine it.

Build up stockpiles of ammunition. (Starting from scratch is expensive shit)

Get my stupid ass into higher education to get a good paying job and continue to feed my ammunition craving.

Getting in better shape and maintaining a better diet is the primary theme for this year (we paid huge $$$ to work with a nutritionist for the past 8 weeks to get things moving in the right directions), but I've got buy in from my wife with the following:

*Installing a secondary heating source for the home
*Getting my CCW
*Purchasing my Ruger .44 Mag Super Blackhawk Hunter
*Increasing storage for food and other necessary items

If I can fanagle it, I'm going to change my CAR-15 A1 to an A3 configuration if I can find the funds this year.

1. The normal one getting in shape but I've been doing this pretty slowly since 12/31/1999 when I manged to find away to touch my toes to my shin - on the same foot. Things grow back really slowly when you'43 40 something. I'm able to "walk" vice crawl and limp which were the first six months and then the next very years.

2. I gotta nail one of the big two left on my list as I've hit my second savings goal.

   * Good quality body armor

     or
   * 3rd Generation Goggles

3. I have to do more familiarization of my area and work my way west a bit in my knowledge. This sort of works in well with number one on the list.

4. Get better with the M1A vice the M-4 rifle. Might look at converting it to a SOCOM set-up.

2 words: MORE GEAR! Actually, a LOT more gear as I have finally brought my significant other around to seeing the light and was absolutely ecstatic with the BOB I setup for her for Christmas. She has become quite handy with an AR and my .45. Going to work on getting her a little better firearm training. Although she has taught me a few things when it comes to fishing and surprised me by cutting up a deer tonight and packaging it. All of this and she could give me one helluva run for my money hand to hand. Some people think about how they are going to take care of their significant other if the situation arises, I wonder if I will be able to keep up with mine. LOL

-Supplement the home generator with a small bank of deep cycle batteries and a good sine wave inverter

-Get my wife in a basic carbine or pistol course (will probably never happen). She's a nurse and while she isn't antigun she feels that a course that teaches efficient ways to take life is contrary to her medical training

-Go to next level of EMT training

-Get to know new neighbors who just moved in down the street

-Finally reload the thousands of rounds of pistol and rifle brass I've collected over the years.
