A little disappointing.

The actual gunfight only lasted an estimated 45 seconds of so.

Hunter and his co-author (who I suspect was responsible) spend WAY too much effort and time on the past lives of the shooters in Puerto Rico.

All this past (and rather boring) personal history is interspersed with literally a few seconds description of the gunfight, to the point where you feel like screaming GET ON WITH IT.

I found the description of the White house police and Secret Service pistol training of the early 50's most interesting.

It was 100% single action slow-fire TARGET shooting.  NO double action or combat type shooting.

Their shooting that day was pretty ineffective.

In contrast, one shooter was armed with a Luger and shot two handed.  He did almost all the hitting that day.

The authors conclusions were that auto pistols were better combat guns, and shooting two handed was better than the old NRA one hand target shooting techniques.

A worth while read, but NOT up to Hunter's usual standards.

It was (thankfully) an example of poor planning and execution.  Had they spent some time planning and practicing, it would have gone down completely different.
