We are on the verge of getting CCW in Wisconsin.
Right now we have the votes to get the Personal Protection Act passed, but our Govenor Doyle has promised to veto the bill.
However, we can over-ride his veto if everyone who voted for the bill stays on board.
Currently that includes 6 democrats who are being heavily pressured NOT to over-ride Doyle's veto.
We need people to call in and voice their support for th PPA to these 6 dems so that they don't turn on us.
For those that don't know, last year we almost had CCW.
Doyle vetoed it and then one Dem who voted for it turned on us and voted not to over-ride Doyle's veto.
We're at that stage again and unless we can keep all 6 of these dems on board the bill will go down in flames again.
Please help us and call in your support for this bill to these dems!
We need to make them feel the pressure to stick with their vote!
Here is the information I recieved today from the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association:
Dear fellow gun owner:
The six assembly Democrats who voted on Tuesday for the Personal Protection Act concealed carry bill have been getting a lot of calls--from people who are angry about their vote.
That's usually the way it goes for legislators: they only hear complaints.
It's time that they heard from the people who support the bill, and hear that their courage to stand up to their party leaders is appreciated. They were under enormous pressure to vote against the bill.
The six Democratic representatives, and their contact phone numbers and email addresses, are:
Representative Barbara Gronemus (888) 534-0091 [email protected]
Representative Mary Hubler (888) 534-0075 [email protected]
Representative Marlin Schneider (888) 529-0072 [email protected]
Representative John Steinbrink (608) 266-0455 [email protected]
Representative Terry Van Akkeren (608) 266-0656 [email protected]
Representative Amy Sue Vruwink (888) 534-0070 [email protected]
Three of these representatives--Steinbrink, Van Akkeren, and Vruwink--are now being heavily pressured by the leadership of their party, and especially by Governor Doyle, to vote to sustain the governor's promised veto.
They must hear from you. They must hear that, for those of us who support the bill, this is not a Democrat versus Republican issue. This may be political for Governor Doyle, but it's not for us. It's a matter of having the ability to defend ourselves.
Please take a few minutes from your busy holiday schedule to contact each of these representatives and thank them.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah, The Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association
