So what do you top your Christmas tree with? I got a tree for my son this year. We haven't had one since moving to Texas as our house is so small. But with my ex's stuff out of the way I figured out how it would be doable this year.

I am truely amazed & happy with the resualts of how it makes our home feel.

I didn't have a lot of extra cash to spend on decorating & when we were done I realized we had no tip ornament. As I sat watching TV & glancing at the tree it just didn't feel finished, & I knew I had to do someting to make it right. I was trying to figure out what to do when it hit me, the American flag on the wood dowel I bought last summer at the dollar store was the perfect tree topper! I wound the fake wire branch around the dowel, & called my son into the livingroom.

We both love the way it looks, & I like the symbolizim it has. I mean connecting Christmass with the US of A. I like the fact that I'm free to do that if no where else in my own home or yard.

So what tops yer tree?

It was just a little too heavy to sit on top of the tree

A big bow. Seriously.  I didn't have anything else one year, and it looked so good with the bow that we stuck with that.

AWESOME!  But it does make you wonder what's under the tree.

We top our tree with a "father christmas".
It appeals to my sense of non traditional.

My wife is not a christian, and I'm a recovering catholic.....
But please understand, Christmas is exactly that! No "ChanuRamaKwanzMas" crap

My wife bought a fiber optic star and angel on sale last year when she opened the boxes the bottom had a huge battery pack on the bottom and there was no way you could put it on top of a tree.  The manufacturer should be shot. So we just put the star we always do on the top.

We used to do a star, but then it crapped out on us, so now we find something new each year. Last year it was a bird-ornament with wire on the feet to wrap around branches.

We have a stained glass star a friend of ours made, but before that my wife had a:

Fiber Optic Santa

I kid you not, his beard changed colors as well as the fur around his coat.  We still have him, but I make her set him up elsewhere.  It was the cheesiest of the cheese ball tree toppers.  Cool in its own right as a future kitchy item, but it had no place on top of a CHRISTmas tree (just for you LOWES).

I love the green and red shotgun shell lights. Have you considered constantina wire tinsel?

We use a beautiful hand-crafted angel that I bought in a neat little doll-store in Berlin 20+ years ago.

I originally bought it for my mother and it was used on our "family Christmas tree" for years.  When I finally had a child of my own, she "gave it to him" so it could be on my family's tree now.
