45 in a 25. He was a Marine in Najaf. We chatted about that for a few and I said "Thanks" and asked if he would slow down.
I am so proud to be an American. |
Good man, he was doing wrong but after serving our country so the rest of us could speed he deserves a break.
Thanks Sherrick. Our vets deserve a little special treatment. |
He's probably so used to driving fast to avoid IED blasts it's second nature. |
Now that's funny right thar.... |
The pathetic part is you felt the need to brag about it on the internet. Look at me I am a traffic cop and I let one guy go and and and he was a vet too! Wow I am a good guy. |

Way to miss the point. Why the bitterness towards LEO's? She probably didn't even know that he was a cop when she left you for him. Lighten up. |
This coming from a guy that posts 48 times a day and racks up almost 5000 posts in 3.5 months. LOL what a loser! Get a life and or a sheep! |
Yeah no shit I know they would not let us drive for a few day's after we got back, and I still find myself going around little stuff in the road and when I see something on the side of the road, Iget to the other side before I get to it. |
I could offer cash awards & it would still have no effect. People will always feed trolls.
BTW, I'm sure the recently returned veteran appreciated getting a warning. I'll bet a lot of them have been velocitized. |
I think he did great! Just cause you're a wannabe don't take it out on the real thing. |
The 5000 post in 3.5 months must have hit quite close to home with you (make you cringe did it). If I remember correctly you were in the same boat. |
Well, as someone who's always polite to the folks that pull me over (I figure their day's exciting enough with-out ME bein' a dumbass) that was uber cool of you officer I DO agree with another poster though, if you catch him doin' it again....... |
I use the 'ol "I just served in Najaf" excuse when I get pulled over too. SUcKER!

I wanna play! Say something stupid about me too, troll. WTF is wrong with you? |
Hey look at me Iam a FatAss I mean Cobra. I like to shit in threads and be a jackass, I mean Fat Cooobraaaa..I am a asshole. Good job sherrick13. What did ya do, sleep with FatCobra's mom or somthing? |
Good deal, Sherrick13. A decent thing to do.
OToh, Isn't you the JBT that wanted to give a blind man and his guide animal 2-5 for some trumped up........ |
I appreciate that. |
Marine sticker and he was a jarhead. |
How did you know for sure that he was a Marine in Najaf?
Could be he was lying just to get out of the speeding ticket. |
A couple of reasons. I'm a cop and I read people pretty good. I have many friends that went and came back. They have a look. He was definately a Marine and I trust him not to lie about that. |
The man is relating to his friends (well, to 5289 friends and one shit-dripping asshole) something about which he justifiably feels good. It's a reverse iteration of posts about divorces, bad days at work, and illnesses, just as your behavior is a reverse iteration of basic human decency. |
Folks, stop derailing the thread.
Good job sherrick13. You know, IMHO, most times the warnings do more to curb behavior than a ticket. |

Good job, sherrick13!
Sept. 2004 I thought all of the Sept. 2004 trolls had been exterminated. Sorry folks, we missed one. |
You sir are a POS,you must get into trouble alot and blame in on the LEOs. I commend he officer for giving this HERO a break. |
I dont always agree with your positions on law enforcement but I do like this one.
Merry Christmas Sherrick! |
Good job, Sherrick. I've gotten my share of breaks from good-hearted traffic cops.
The majority of LEOs are decent people doing a dangerous job for an ungrateful public. The people who put them down are usually low-life scumbags anyway, so I don't give any weight to their opinions. Personally, I equate the law enforcement field with military service; both have my respect and gratitude. |
Yeah, i get tickets and i liked the story |
After I shook his hand and was walking back to my car that is the exact word that came to my mind. |
We'd probably agree more than you think. I just like to stir up stuff a little sometimes. |
Good job.
On a related note, I went to the "check welfare" call of a WWII vet yesterday. He passed sometime early Wednesday. We found him in his workshop. His daughter said he was a commander of a tank destroyer company in Europe. I was walking thru his house waiting for the ME investigator to finish and checking out the pictures on the walls. I really wish I'd had a chance to meet the guy before he passed on. He'd apparently gone into teaching and traveled extensively thru South America and Africa. Remember the Arfcom thread about the Axtatls? (spelling, those spear throwing sticks.) The guy had a half dozen different sizes hanging on the wall of his workshop. He'd made them AND the 6 ft spears from scratch. Really good workmanship. The crime scene tech thought I was nuts when i pointed out what they were. |

I had a flashback to 1970.
My driving license expired expired while I was in the Army - acquired at 16, drafted at 19, turned 21 in Nam. My first full day home, was enroute to the license branch to take care of it. Approached an intersection I had been through hundreds of times before but they had changed it while I was gone. Right lane was now a turn only lane. The lane continued through the intersection so I did not turn. Was stopped by a motorcycle officer who was well hidden. When he learned my license was not up to date he WENT OFF!! Very ugly! Tried to explain, but he could not have cared less. He wrote out the ticket in record time. Thank you, from someone who has "been there". |
last weekend one of my buddies got pulled over for 30 in a 25 ticketed...now him and my section sgt have to go to the defensive drivers saturday course...in class As. sucks for them lucky for the vet though. good stuff.

I bought the christmas present the SFC was holding at walmart the other day. It was a toy for his daughter. Then I thanked him. Should have seen the look on his face. Do it all the time at the shop and robs, buying their drinks. Hey it makes me feel better.
No one ever thanked me or shook my hand. Now flame away trolls! Good job officer. Bob |
