I have heard that term many times when people refer to rounds like the .338 lapua. Is there a set rule to this? what makes a counter sniper round/rifle. my guess would be effective range.

Drop some science on me.

I think it just sounds more PC to say "counter-sniper" than it does to say "police sniper"

My guess is since the 338 was designed for extreme long range shooting, it would be the preferred round for taking out other snipers who may use a shorter range round  like the 308.

counter snipers are just lazy snipers who wait to get shot at first
