I don't drink coffee, I have a thing for hot chocolate. Yesterday I'm in the supermarket, in the Mexican food section they have "Mexican Hot Chocolate," I don't remember the maker but it was one of the big ones (Nestle, Carnation, Swiss Miss.) It was a powder.

Anyone ever had the stuff ? Any good ? What makes it different ?

I read the title and I immediately assumed that the 'Mexican Hot Chocolate' was some sort of sexual manuever....I'm dissapointed.

There is a sexual move called "Mexican Hot Chocolate", but I am pretty sure you don't want to hear about it....if you can use your imagination.......iiiiccckkkk!

Close.

Traditional Mexican hot chocolate has cinnamon as well as the usual cocoa, sugar and vanilla.

Actually it's really good.  Great for campouts with some Kaulua (sp) in it.  It's got ciniman in it I believe.  Has more spices anyways.  (not spicey, spices).  Usually you find it in big disks.  You put them in the pan with some milk and melt it.  Then add milk till you get the right mixture.  Abuelita's is the best.

Is that the (Nestle, I think) box with the happy grandmotherly looking woman on the label?

I've thought of trying that myself.

I bought some in a big flat cake form.  Not being fluent in Meskin,  I thought it was a candy bar.  Nasty!

It tastes about the same, but it makes you fart with an accent.

Ibarra, comes in a red and yellow package.  Has a bunch of spices like cinammon and other stuff, and crystallized sugar.  It's good, I like it better than plain hot chocolate or mocha.

I find it delicious. Definitely worth a try, just don't make it with mexican water for an "authentic" experience.

I've also heard that cayenne is sometimes added to hot chocolate south of the border.

Don't forgt to fluff it up with an authentic spinner.  It's pretty good.  Not your usual sweet kids stuff.

Mole Poblana is pretty good too.  It's a chicken or turkey with a sauce with chocolate and other spices in it.
