If so how much?

Guy at work says his monthly gas bill went from $120 to $320 (approx) roughly a 266% increase. I don't believe it YET.

Natural gas hit a new record price on December 9th, but has dropped back a little bit since the weather has warmed up again.

news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051209/ap_on_bi_ge/oil_prices

Our local utility offered and option to lock in rates for the entire season in September and those that should come out ahead of those that chose to "go with the flow".

Most of the gas for this year is already in storage so hopefully the price will come back down before the cheaper stored gas is used up.  If the prices stay high and the weather gets cold again, it won't be pretty.

The wiife handles the money.   I just work.  It is a good relationship.  To be fair she does work and go to school full time.  I just happen to make more.

So, with that said, does it cost more this year to heat your home?

20%. From $10 to $12. (I only have a natural gas stove/oven)

Tomorrow- 12/15, they're going to announce natural gas stockpile level. Big drawdown and it's on to $20, otherwise back towards $10.

Yup, about 20% this year.

BUT, it is a fishbowl market.  It is produced just off the beach in Anchorage, it is not shipped anwhere else, and there are no huge consumers with an artificial demand like fertilizer plants in the market.

"Due to market conditions" my ass.
