The other day I got a chance to meet Mike Brown, the former head of FEMA. Since leaving FEMA he's decided to do consulting work for about 4-5 companies as his full time job. One of my father's many companies, a SIP panel manufactured housing company happens to be one of ones Mr. Brown wants to work for. It's located in Muskogee, OK, but from the sounds of it we will need to expand and open plants in TX, MS, LA, and FL. We're the only SIP panel maker who assembles the homes in a warehouse, rather than on site. We have about 20 different floor plans ranging from 300 sqft (for temporary workers) up to 2,000.

I was really impressed with this guy. The connections he has are unbelieveable. If you need it done, it's done. Simple as that. My dad is already building a casino in Buloxi, MS (the dates got pushed back a little) and is well in with the mayor, govenor, etc.. But Brown really can hook us up anywhere along the gulf coast, and if we need our houses in a certain area first, the area will be the first to be cleared and ready.

After the 5 hour meeting we went and got a few drinks, grabbed some of KC's finest BBQ and everyone split. Today my dad gets to meet Christie Heffner, Hugh's daughter about some funding for the casino.

Anyways, this is as close as I've gotten to anything really related to government besides the drivers license bureau and the sheriff's office. Needless to say he was a real down to earth guy (loves to hunt and fish) and we all know how the media and press can turn on someone to make us all think they're the bad guy. This was probably the 4-5th meeting they've had in the last month and it's a pretty solid relationship between him, my father and members of his company, and I am getting more involved from the transition from financial planning into this (since it's potential is HUGE) that we'll be seeing a lot more of this guy and what someone this connected inside the .gov can do.
