Does anyone know about how much a standard 21" barrel DSA FAL goes for the only one I found the guy was wanting $1,500 and they sell them in there catalog for about $1,100 or so but I don't want to buy from DSA because of IL taxes if anyone could help out it would be great thanks.

You're talking about the DSA SA-58's, right? Not the STG-58 kit guns.

The SA-58's usually run higher than $1,100.00. I'd put them closer to $1,300.00 from almost any gun shop.

They have them at DSA for the STG58A FAL for $995 for the type 1 and 2

STG58A = Parts gun,,,less money
SA58 = All new parts made by DSA

Both good guns, but you get better quality with a SA58. I have a SA58 carbine that is the best looking and shooting FAL I have ever seen.

I bought a STG58 DSA 'Kit' rifle for $795 + $15 shipping. Shoots sub moa with Radway Green 147gr ball ammo. I can't see why any one would pay $1300+ for the DSA barrel, when the kits that DSA uses to build the kit rifle are manufactured by Steyr - name is right on the barrel. You can spend more $, but I don't believe you can purchase higher quality FAL parts. Bore is like a mirror and all parts appear brand new. Includes correct # of US manufactured parts (yes, these are true DSA parts) to comply with BATF rules - and you don't need to use US manufactured base plates and followers in the mags ........ all for $810 shipped. And you have your choice of a DSA receiver - type I or II.

All you need to do is have your dealer send a file copy of their FFL and a letter to stating that you are authorized to pay dealer price direct and have the rifle shipped to your dealer. Saves you $200 that you can spend on 1K rounds + of mil spec ball ammo. For an additional $50, DSA will trim the barrel to 18" carbine length and install the muzzle brake you choose from their selection - or have it crowned instead.

To each his own,  but for my $, the DSA/Steyr rifle & carbine is the way to go while they are available.

What's the difference between the type one and two receivers on the FAL'S they have

Type II receivers have the 'lightening' cuts that were used on some of the original full auto receivers. Allegedly added strength to the receiver for full auto fire - how much more strength could one ask for in a receiver without going to a belt fed mg? The FAL have to be some of the strongest receivers ever made in the semi/full auto rifles. Especially the DSA receivers. In the semi auto DSA rifles, I believe it is more an aesthetic issue of preference. Can't see the 'cuts' of the Type II receiver in this pic of the rifle, but I will take another pic tomorrow and try to post it.

If you are interested in only the receiver check out the falfiles under group purchases.  til the end of the month either a DSA type 1 or 2 for $320 plus 8 shipping and I think 20 of that goes to support the board.

For a SA58, $1279 including tax and shipping in Ill.Then I gave him 100.00 for his effort.He would have did it for 25.00.If i can afford that much for a rifle,I can cough up some for his electric,phone and mortage.

Who likes there STG58 from DSA more then there Ar-15. Also about how well does these rifles shoot.

1.  I like the FAL better than the AR, but I still like the AR's.

2.  DSA "Kit" Stg-58 guns are $795 dealer cost--and everyone who got one is EXTREMELY impressed with the quality.  DSA's "Factory" SA-58 used 21" can be found as low as $1000 if you look hard enough.

3.  New DSA Factory guns (SA-58's) are made with integral muzzle brakes and the barrels are made by Badger.  The older guns have barrels made by Steyr.

4.  Biggest benefit to the FAL's is the $5 mags, used, excellent condition that are easy to find.  Compare that to the AR mags right now.

$1100 for a carbine is a pretty good deal if it is in excellent condition.

BTW--
Type 1 receivers also have the lightening cuts, Type 2 have that 1/4 circle lightening cut at the rear, and Type 3 don't have the lightening cuts (it only increased the weight by about 4 ozs, and cut down on machining costs).

The STG58 is CLEARLY a superior rifle to the AR - but I still love my AR's.

The perfect rifle would be a . 223 FAL. But I'm NOT gonna pay $2300 for the imported SAR48's (or whatever their designation is.

You're not up to date. SAR48/SAR4800 (pre/post ban) .223's have been popping up for sale between $1300 and $1500.

Does anyone know what the best scope mount to get for the DSA FAL is I think I might of been sold on the FAL now (like 308 better then 223 anyway.)

And how well do they shoot like what is the M.O.A for most of you that have one? Is there any kind of ammo that it does not like?

Also can you get free floating hand guard for the rifle? Last should I get plastic or medal hand guard?

The three mounts I've heard people using are:

TAPCO 4 screw

DSA 8 screw

ARMS

Some TAPCO mount purchasers had problems that were quickly rectified by TAPCO. Possibly made by Leapers?? DSA makes a very solid mount that doesn't require removal to extract the bolt group. I have one and it's damn solid. The ARMS unit is much more expensive than the previous two but also highly regarded. MOA? Peruse the FAL forum and you'll see people claim anywhere from 1 to 3 MOA but no worse. All manner of milsurp 7.62N function through FALs but there's a few that were problematic (split necks, etc.).  You'd have to check the archives as I don't recall the specifics.

Also, unless you're trying to make the dealer happy, $1500 is the MSRP. Just like the $995 MSRP of DSA's STG58A kitgun, no one pays those prices. When I bought my standard SA58, dealer pricing was $1175 plus tax. Is that a lot easier to swallow than $1500?
