Despite their name, peanuts aren't nuts. Cashews are. They are very different botanically.
Fun fact: Did you know that the shells of cashews will cause skin blisters if handled? Ever tried cashew butter? I don't buy nearly as much peanut butter anymore. Cashew butter is da bomb. I do have to make it myself, though. Haven't seen it in stores. |

They are formed on the outside of an apple like fruit, IIRC. They are dangerous to handle without protection, and harder to harvest, hence the higher price.

I tried Cashew Butter and didn't like it. It should taste awsome to me as much as I like the casher nut. Maybe it was the brand.

The shell contains the same toxin as poision ivy.
There is enough residue in the cooked nuts till I cant eat them. Urushiol it is called. |
