My ancestors moved here following WWI (about 1920), were poor teet-jerkers (that's dairy farmers for you non-cheeseheads), so definitely did NOT own slaves. I will go to war before I will pay [b]one damned cent[/b] in reparations. Lazy bastards looking for free money--not just blacks, but Amerikans in general looking to win the lawsuit lottery, etc. I am so sick of the freeloading, everybody-owes-me-something mentality I could just puke. That rotten old whore who spilled coffee then got millions from McDonald's needs a lead pill. Don't get me started on the prick a couple weeks ago who smoked for 40 yrs., then was awarded 6 TRILLION from the tobacco companies. These dumb-ass juries should at least be required to know how many zeroes it takes to make their asinine settlement awards. Amerikans have gone nuts--at our expense. Screw the freeloaders. If anybody should be paid reparations it should be the families of the soldiers who fought and died to free the slaves. The last time I check I did not see the free slaves lining up to fight. These soldiers gave the ultimate gift, for people to be free, thier life. Thier families are the ones that should be paid.

Give them the reparations than deduct the cost of the Civil War. Since it wasnt only about slavery, we should give partial credit. With interest since the 1860s the amount should reach several billion. Once that is taken care of, there are other deductions as well. Lets deduct all the ER visits and surgeries that havent been paid for. Also the free medications.
Reparations my ass, the difference is that every other race goes for economic power first. Political power follows. My mom and dad came to this country with $600 in their pocket and didnt speak english. They washed dishes, anyting that earned them honest money. They built several businesses and sent both their kids to college. They worked 14-18 hours a day. America will give you anything if you work hard. Its not only about blacks but any free-loader. Get off your butt and get a job. My dad would come home tired and look at me and said, "I'm doing this so you never have to. Also if you dont goto school, I am kicking your ASS!" |

I'm definitely in favor of reparations for slavery! It is a great idea!
The only question is - how much money do the African countries owe us, and how do we figure out which ones sent how many slaves over here? And how should be money be distributed? Should every person that has a job and pays taxes get a check - or should cities with high homocide and robbery rates get the bulk of the money? |

I agree with Beekeeper1. It's a combination of ignorant jurors and justices, greedy lawyers and greedy clients. This hurts us more than just monetarily; restrictions are placed upon us by nongovernmental entities who are afraid that our actions will lead to them being sued no matter how farfetched the idea may be.

Any black family may receive full repartations if it can be proven that no one in the blood line was ever convicted of a crime punishable by up to one year in jail. Estimated Total cost of this reparations program to tax payers: $0. |

I am american indian by legal definition only and I am not underpriviledged. I didn't grow up on a reservation with unemployed parents, so I don't really deserve to take advantage of this stuff. At least, that is my opinion. |
