I just got my new Brownell's catalog today and saw that they had this new item listed.  It is a complete lower made from injection molded glass filled nylon.  It is offered in green and black.  Has anyone seen or heard of this?  If it is a good product I think I will use it to build the wife a light rifle to shoot.  She likes to shoot but wants something lighter than my H-Bar.  If you have any input on this please let me know. Thanks!

Check out the Industry Forums here on AR15.com.
Shawn Nealon, the owner of Cavalry Arms, posts here as [b]Garryowen[/b]. His products are top-notch.
Here's my white one:

How much do those things cost? They LOOK flimsy, but I'm sure that looks are indeed decieving.

Brownell's sells the stripped lowers in black or green with a buttplate for $150. This of course includes the stock and pistol grip, since they are attached.

They are NOT flimsy at all, and they have an excellent warranty.

They are definitely not Flimsy! I fired a CAV-15 at the AZ shoot about a month ago, they are top notch. If I wasn't so broke right now and thinking about a career change I would definitely be buying one! I don't know his prices off the top of my head but I'm sure you can get all the info you need from his website.
When "not if" I get one I plan on making it into an ultra light rifle possibly using a Carbon fiber upper from Professional Ordnance.

Looks pretty damn ugly to me... but hey this is coming from a guy who enjoys his LR 300 and M4 with retractable stock on brand new receivers... God I love Canada... well for that only.

I personally don't care for the look, but I will tell you, when it comes to functionality the Cav lower is superb.  It shoulders up much better than any other stock combination I have ever tried on an AR-15.

Here's a Cav lower on a Tromix .458 SOCOM suppressed upper.

Flimsy? Not even.

It is a refreshing look for the AR15, colorwise.

I love mine with the custom serial #......"AR15.COM13", one of the special edition serial #'s that Shawn made up for the LEGP buyers.

[rolleyes][rolleyes][rolleyes]^^^Hey Tony, How much are those 458 uppers going for? Looks really cool, since I don't reload maybe the 50AE would be the better way to go?^^^[rolleyes][rolleyes][rolleyes]

Thanks for pointing that out. I'd been thinking about picking up one of these to try out and when I check Brownell's the trade price listed is only $120! I'll be having my FFL order me a pair on Monday.

ACR,
Rest assured the CAV-15 isn't Flimsy. It's a sweet lower. I've had mine about 3 months and love it. It was a little "tight" on the control parts at first but after about 200 rounds it smoothed out. It has the closest upper-lower fit I have ever seen, but still able to break down without a hammer & punch. No Accu-wedge here!! I use a 16" Bushy upper on mine, but Shawn can build any upper combination you want. Warranty and service is the best in the Biz. Drop Shawn a line, he'll answer all questions.   [uzi]

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses!  I will be ordering one on Monday.  I guess they were common knowedge to you since a bunch of you already have rifles built from them.  Hey, one more thing, do they have the same length of pull as the standard A2 stock?

Lets see,..... you invented this product, so your input would be the best one to have.  Sort of like talking to Sam Colt about the Peacemaker .45 SAA.  You would think he would know more than everyone else.  :^)

I have three CAV-15's.  Tell you the truth, the CAV 15 was my first 'AR'.

Aside from the 'stocked' CAV, a 'regular' or 'stockless' CAV lower is in the works (or avail. now?????).

I love my CAV's.  One has an ASA 9mm upper and man, that this is light!!  Only if I can get use to it shooting 100 yards......(yes, yes, more practice).
