Fla. Man Kills Friend While Acting

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) -- A man who said he accidentally shot his best friend while acting out a screenplay has been charged with manslaughter.

Daniel Squires, an aspiring 20-year-old screenwriter, was shot in the throat and died July 2.

James Brand, 21, said the men had been drinking and were acting out a story about espionage. Brand admitted pulling the trigger but told police he did not think the gun was loaded, authorities said.

ALWAYS assume that a gun is loaded!!

They did not say the caliber?  could have been messy.   Should have use a squirt gun.

Darwinism at it's best.  Let's see:  drinking while using a firearm, pointing a gun at something you don't intend to shoot (or maybe he did), and assuming the gun was not loaded.  Then again, maybe this was not an accident.  Hmmmmmmm.

Of course, the stupidity of this moron will not be called into question, just the presence of the gun.

Alcohol + handling a firearm + pointing it at someone else + pulling the trigger + assuming it wasn't loaded

Are there any gun safety rules that were not violated here?  I don't count "know what's beyond your target" since it's clear he wasn't pointing the gun in a safe direction anyway.

See, the liberals are right.  They shouldn't be trusted with guns.

We are showing compassion.  Not a single person here has suggested having his willy bitten off by a pony, even though we all think he deserves it.

What's wrong with you guys?  It's obviously the gun's fault.  It's ALWAYS the gun's fault.  The loose nut behind the trigger has NO culpability.

I'll bet the greedy trial lawyers are circling the victims family right now.  Sounds like another frivilous lawsuit on the horizon.  Doesn't matter that they broke every safety rule in the book and were drinking.

Booze and guns don't mix, and its always an 'unloaded' gun that kills some one in circumstances like this! If it was'nt intentional, he has gotta deal with the guilt for the rest of his life.
