I'm getting one.  Almost wish it was a little longer in the barrel, say, 20" and the hider.  But they are darn compact and handy for a 30 cal bolt gun.  The Firing Line had a thread about them a short while ago, consensus was to get a rubber butt pad so as not to kill your shoulder.

I bought one of these FR-8's from Big 5 a month ago, and I've shot it only a couple of times.   Mine has a tight action and decent barrel, but the stock is in terrible shape.

Great fun to shoot, but it does have a lot of recoil.  Needs a recoil pad, or something.

Beer Slayer,
there's an extensive thread on this over on Gunbroker.com.

The FR8 was made by the Spanish because the then new CETME was too expensive to issue to all of the troops.  Cooks, drivers, REMF types needed a rifle that fired a common ammo with their new assault weappon.

Also, Spain did issue the FR8 to their Special Forces, wich was actually not an elite force as we know it, but Spain's Foriegn Legion, and the rifles may have seen combat in Africa.

It does take the CETME bayonet, I don't know about any other parts.  I've been told that the notch in the flash hider is for cutting barb wire.

Buy one, you like it.  Worst case, you'll be able to trade it easily.

Regards, Pepper

I've just refinished one for myself, and had the bolt turned down, Parkoted the metal satin black and refinished the wood. Looks beautiful. I love this rifle. D.
