I'm renovating a half bath (sink and commode only) in my house.  I've pulled the wallpaper down and I was thinking about tiling the walls from the floor halfway up.  Since there's no shower or tub in that room, do I need to install backerboard?  What about a high humdity room requires backerboard?  Is it just the moisture causes the sheetrock to warp?

Thanks,
Jeff

I'd install concret board so ou have a good surface to adhere the tiles to.

No real need for the cement backer board thats more for high humidity baths and stuff. Get yourself some tile and some mastic and get to work
