Well, I'm fed up with the repetitive nature of the local radio and have been thinking about satellite.  What are you guys going with, XM or Sirrius?  Are you happy with everything, and was it worth it?  I also like talk radio, so there seems to be not only Fox but some other conservative talk shows on there.

Also, which reciever is best?  Thanks!!!

Either is good.  If you spend enough time in the car it's definately worth it. Just remember that if you listen to talk radio there are still commercials, only the music channels are commercial free.

As far as Xm vs Sirius, it's very subjective.  Get a free online trial of each and give them a listen (they only let you preview the music channels).

If you listen to sports, Sirius has NFL & Hockey, and some college football. XM has Baseball and some college football.  Not sure of who carries the NBA.

Sirius has NRA News, and will be getting Stern.  XM has Opie & Anthony.

I've had both and I personally prefer Sirius. I thought Sirius' classic rock, rap, religious and talk channels (Tammy Bruce!) were better than XM's. If you're a sports fan, XM has MLB and NECKAR NASCAR while Sirius has NFL.

I've had XM (which includes NFL) for about four moths. Can't imagine drive to the corner store without it.  I also bought the adapter kit so I can use it in my garage.

I've had it for about 6 months now and have to say that I was sceptical at first but I am definately sold!

I love the fact that I don't ahve to search for stations when I go on a road trip.

No more driving three hours and only getting mexican stations!!!!!!!!!

I love it!!!

I have XM and it is nice, but I still listen to my CDs more then XM.  The sounds quality is not CD quality that is way I do the CD thing.

I listen to it at work more then any other place.

I love my Sirius.  I had both for awhile and decided to go with the Sirius.  If your music tastes lean more toward rock, then that is the way to go.  Plus, I am a NFL fan, and the great coverage is there as well. (Plus the NRA news).  If you like more pop music, XM might be better for you.

Are you sure Delphi owns XM?

I checked out both Sirius and XM before the decision.

If you like muzak, then Sirius is the way to go.

My mom's 2005 TrailBlazer came with 3 months of XM.  We don't listen to it much, but it's good when we do.

It comes with a "conservative talk" channel, but it has Air America(ugh)

Yes, and get Sirius because I have stock in the company

Edited to add:
I also have two Sirius receivers. Very pleased with it even if I didn't have a vested interest in the company. I haven't listened to the regular radio in a year.

The variety of channels is so impressive that it almost makes up for the fact that the music is being a little over compressed.

I like the music – I would just expect top quality sound reproduction to go the $13 a mont fee.

I like my XM. Sports they have NASCAR, INDY car series, Baseball, various college sports, and NHL. Plus all the talk and music stations. I've got the Delphi MYFI. It's the portable one. I can listen to it at home, in the car, and walking around (where I have a clear Southern exposure). It was worth it to me.

I personally wouldn't go to Sirius just because Howard Stern is going to be on it. But that's a whole other thread.

Yes, get it.

It's not like you can't go back to regular radio if you want/need to...

I personally f'in hate Horward Stern.  That would be the last reason I'd buy it.

Love my XM.   I also have the Sky-fi and take it from the house to my car and then put it in my work car. Then I take it home with me.  Terrestial radio sucks.

My car came with XM built in to the stereo....so I subscribed.

I love it. The XM Comedy station is perfect for the drive home....24/7 uncensored stand-up comedy. Great music selection, but XM is a little weak on serious rock-n-roll stations, which is my thing. Still, plenty of good channels.

Fox News, ESPN.....whatever you like...they have a channel for it.

Very happy with XM...can't imagine a car without it at this point. Incredible for any sort of road trips.

I got XM and never looked back.  Then I hooked up XM Direct to my PC.    I am hooked on having that many choices.

Radio should be free! or almost free!

Begin the day with a friendly voice, a companion unobtrusive
Plays that song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood.

Off on your way, hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the spirit ever lingers -
Undemanding contact in your happy solitude

Invisible airwaves crackle with life
Bright antenae bristle with the energy
Emotional feedback, on timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price - almost free

All this machinery making modern music
Can still be open-hearted
Not so coldly charted; it's really just a question of your
honesty.
One likes to believe in the freedom of music
But glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the
illusion of integrity

Invisible airwaves crackle with life
Bright antenae bristle with the energy
Emotional feedback, on timeless wavelength
Bearing a gift beyond price - almost free

"For the words of the profits were written on the studio wall
and concert hall
And echoes with the sound of salesmen."

Sirius.

I have XM in my new truck, I never listen to it, it sucks.

I have the Sportster portable model. I take it everywhere, in my trucks, the wife's sub, the boat, garage, etc. It's great. The only thing it doesn't have is MLB, and I could give a shit about baseball until playoff time. I got NFL and CFB, that's all I need.
