Frankly I think this is where the next generation of computing is going. Beyond desktops and laptops, and even palmtops.
Integrate a CPU module, add a pair of video glasses and poof, you have mobile computing that you truly wear. /then again, I could be way off...

They took another step towards iTuning video as well. The new iMacs have some software that helps optimize them for living room dvd/video playback, including a remote.
They're going to do to movies exactly what they did to music. |

Big woop, I've had the same capabilities with my PSP and two 1gig memory sticks for the past three months. And I can play any NES/SNES/Genesis or PSP game I want to. I can play Contra, Tiger Woods Golf 2006, listen to music or watch new episodes of Arrested Development anywhere I want to.

Bingo! Apple has NO debt, is quite profitable and growing market share. I know, I bought my first iPod (60GB) and 15" PowerBook only a few weeks ago. They've proven that the **IA distrubution models are broken and outdated (no matter what the asshats at MPAA/RIAA say) and are going to keep moving things forward, despite the kicking and screaming from the Not a cult worshipper/fanboy by any means. I *HATED* supporting Apple products as a Network Admin all through the 90's but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that M$ has become bloated and stale. Vista was the last straw for me. XP SP3 is more like it. OS X *ROCKS*. |

They have more products than the iPod. I suppose the video iPod will be used for music videos, and pr0n is not to be overlooked. But it is blindingly obvious that they will also start selling movies for download to their PCs via broadband. Their desktop macs could plausibly replace a lowend TV screen for video playback, just as they have replaced low-end desktop stereos with iTunes. |

It's much more sophisticated than I thought. They've got a deal with a couple TV networks. They'll be selling TV shows the day after they air--you can get Lost, same season, they day after it airs.
The economics here are really interesting. Traditionally they sell DVDs the year after the season. Now they'll be selling it in digital format the day after. This will cannibalize DVD sales, probably, and maybe even cannibalize over-air TV. This could open up new markets for video. Even a cheap DVD goes for about five bucks. What if you could buy video for $2? What sort of content does that promote? the hardware here is actually the smaller part. The new markets could be huge. |

I laughing my ass off at everybody that ran out to get the nano. in a few years I'll just pick an Ipod off ebay for $20. You save a whole lot of money staying 1-2yrs behind tech. Hell, I'm still running a Geforce3. I'm not going to spend $300+ on some card.

he's not talking about the 2" screen, he's talking about iTunes style distribution of video content. No more messing with blockbuster, or buying walmart dvds. You just pickout what you want to watch on iMovies or iTelevision, pay your couple of bucks to download, and watch your movie ... probably on your living room television with some nifty connectors. |

yep! This is one service I'd actually pay for if the price were right. Pick and choose television shows I want to watch without having to mess with paying a monthly fee for hundreds of shit channels I'd never watch. |

Not very impressive. There are a lot better options out there if you want a handheld video device. For a $100-200 more you can get players with 5-7 inch screens that will also directly record video. You got to wonder what kind of chuckle head is going to pay $2 a pop to buy music videos from Apple. |

While not an Apple kool-aid drinker, I have come to really like their products. Hell, I'm still using a G4 that I bought, what, 4 years ago. Rock solid with OSX, never skips a beat and I haven't had to do anything to it. Starts up and runs programs in a tenth of the time my year old work PC does.
Dual 533 processor, 256 RAM, 60 Gig drive.........  I just jumped on the bandwagon and bought a Nano, will probably buy a next gen video IPOD and I damn sure will buy a G5 when the time comes. I just might buy more Apple stock as well....
