I've found a MAC 11 for $2500 ... F/A of course.

Is this a deal?

Are MAC 11's reliable?

I have a semi M-11/9 and it's fun to shoot.  Not nearly as fun as an actual FA one of course.  It's had 1 FTF in about 500 rounds or so I've fired.  For a pretty heavy pistol, there is a decent amount of muzzle flip though, I can only imagine how much flip there'd be in auto.

Do you know if a used (in good condition) M-11/9 for $2500 is a good deal?

Somebody'll be along to answer that shortly I'm sure.  I'm unfortunately in CA where FA is illegal and even my semi M-11 is banned so I'm totally clueless on prices.

I dont know shit about FA prices, I live in a non Class III state.

Here is one NFA board. Price looks right compared to on there.

And my semi Mac 11/9, when being bumped, is very controllable with the fake can. Very high RPM, very aimable and a blast to shoot. Dumps a 32 rd mag in maybe 5 seconds tops, all very well aimed.

That is a fair price for a used MAC11.

Reliability of MACs depend on the mags. Zytel (plastic) mags wear out fairly quickly but replacements are only $20. You can add metal feedlips to help or have it converted to take Uzi or STEN mags.

There are tons of upgrades for the MAC11 so there are lots of options you don't have with other subguns.

Its a little bullethose squirting out around 1100 rounds a minute. A full mag goes for about 2 seconds of trigger time. Expect you ammo budget to go way up.

Get it!

$2,500 is a good deal.  There is a ton of stuff you can do to a M11 to make it a fun little subgun.  And of course, they aren't going to get any cheaper.  Especially with the RPD and Slowfire uppers coming.

not a bad deal. mac's are reliable and a hoot to shoot but aren't very accurate. of course, gordon ingram never meant it to be. he said his mac-10 was meant to be used "in a room full of very surprised colonels"!

doesn't look like a whole lotta wear on that puppy...hush puppy, that is!

I bought mine for around $2200 a little over  a year ago.  Its a great little gun but very finicky on FA.  You really have to lube the shit out of it to get it to run consistantly on full auto.  I've never had a failure of any kind on semi. When you get it going its a real son-of-a-bitch.  Sounds like a humm instead of a rata-tat-tat.  There will be guys at the range with M16s, MP5s, AM180s and all kinds of high dollar stuff but when you dump a 32 round mag in 2.9 seconds everyone comes to see your little screamer.

Its a lot of fun but dont expect to just throw a mag in and blast for 2 hours like you see in the movies.  Like everything, you have to find what makes it work right and then use that.  Oh man is it a blast though.

You can never pay too much for F/A firearms,  you can only buy them too soon.

Full autos are constantly going up in value.  I paid a little over $1000 for my
SWD M-11/9 in early 2003.  It is worth more than that now.\

Check out subguns.com and there NFA For Sale section to see current asking prices.
YOu will also see alot of SOLD PENDING FUNDS.

In another 3-4 years M-11's will be selling for $5000...

Check out the latest Small Arms Review to see who is winning the most in subgun shoots.

The price also depends on how many accessories the firearm comes with and make sure
you KNOW for a fact what the firearm comes with.

When I bought mine it was pictured with a side-cocking upper w/rail and the original
upper.  It only shipped with the side-cocking upper.  When questioned he said the picture
was old and he didnt have the original upper anymore.

He had deleted the ad so there was no way I could prove anything.  MAKE SURE YOU
KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR !

There was a guy around here that was into FA MAC's. What's his name? Something like MACUZI or Heinline? Maybe he will pick-up this thread and post his experience. I still have my MAC 11/9 in parts kit only form. I understand these are legal in CA. So, I need to research this and confirm it and maybe set some time and money aside to build this into a semi-auto.

True, but unfortunate. The price circumstances are just like the diamond market in that prices are artificially high. We need to work to get the bottom to fall out on the FA market by repealing the amendment to the '86 act. (sorry, it is too early in the morning over here on the wack coast, oops, I mean west coast, to remember the full name of the act).

I was going to point you towards Cavvet.  He can bump an entire MAC11 mag like a fiend and still has 2200 bucks left over.

My son has one.  He made a couple of mods and added a supressor.  Damn thing hoses out 1,800 rpm now...and it is very quiet.

I doubted the accuracy of the little monster...but in truth, its a pretty good weapon for CQB...EXCEPT I'd reduce the rate of fire.  It eats ammo at a frightening rate!  About one second to empty a 30 round mag.

mine:

-Task Slowfire Conversion (utilizes M4 buffer system) ROF is around 900-1000 rpm, can be slowed further with heavier buffers
-Sten mag conversion
-9" barrel with K-grip
-cheapo BSA

I like the look of the MAC-10 more, but that's just personal opinion having nothing to do with the performance of either weapon.

I intend to pick up a semi-auto M-10 this summer.

I had no idea that so much "crap" was available for the MAC.

I'm gettin' a woody just thinking about all the money I'll soon be burning.

West Georgia Armory Want better reliability? switch a M10 style bolt into your M11

If the gun is new/almost new then you will want to make sure that the buffer hasn't rotted before you shoot it. Many of the reliability issues with Macs are because they have been sitting around for almost 20 years and because some of the parts are of poor quality (soft metal) because of the mad dash to put these together before the '86 ban. These issues are easily resolved because high quality parts are available now.

Damn, and I though $465.95 was too much for my Mac 11 SMG when I bought it back in 1996.

I bought my MAC 11/9 NIB for $1,000 excluding taxes and fees.

There are only two things I don’t like about it:
1 It doesn’t like flat point (hollow point) ammo.
2 Cleaning it.

I love my little buzzsaw!
I really don’t care that I can go through $100 (a case) worth of ammo in under an hour.
I really don’t care that its accuracy on Full Auto isn’t good.

My Mac was my first Class III weapon.  And it did an excellent job on educating me to the ins and outs of Full Auto Shooting.

MAG DUMP!
