Red = Illegal Alien B.S. Blue = Stations I sometimes listen to. |
WORD - News talk 950 and 1330. Excellent.
WFBC - bubble gum pop and hip hop. Not my cop o' tea. WOLI - 106.3 CCM and country. Good stuff. Maybe a few eSpanol stations. No complaints. |
I haven't listened to terrestrial radio for a year now. No regrets.......
I can' t imagine life without my XM. |
I can't tell you the last time I actually bothered to listen to local radio.
99.1 HFS rock/alternative just switched to a spanish station right in the middle of the morning several months ago.
No warning. Morning talk show ended, and mexican music started. |
FM and AM both suck around here for the most part. Every now and then there's something interesting to listen to, but it doesn't last...
I just recently switched to XM... CR |
let's see:
I don't listen to AM at all. FM: 97.1-oldies/clasic rock WDRV 104.3-formerly oldies, now "Jack FM"(ugh)-used to be WJMK, don't know the call letters now. 101.9-The Mix-pop, newer rock WTMX 97.9-rock/metal WLUP 99.5-country WUSN 98.3-ditto WCCQ The rest I don't listen to, mix of hip-hop, jazz, adult contemporary, Spanish, etc. ETA-this is for Chicago. |
The ones I know about
107.7 (The Buzzard) Country -- lots of good stuff, not too may commercials 106.9 (rock 107) Rock - good rock but not really heavy 102.3 (The Mountain) Rock, mostly classic rock, but play alot of B-Sides 101.3 (Froggy 101) Country - more mainstream country, quite a few commercials 99.5 ( University of Scranton) can be anything, depends on the time 98.5 (mostly pop ghetto shit and dance crap) 97.9 Rock, alot of heavier stuff 97.1 (More ghetto dance shit) 93.7 ( JR ) Country, lots a good stuff, old and new 90.7 ( Wilkes College) Metal monday is great 88.9 WVIA (alot of classical and such, unfortunately its pbs, so have to sift through NPR propaganda) 88.5 ( Kings College ) They also have some good metal shows.. I missed alot, but these are the ones stuck in my head.. ETA I don't recall hearing any spanish programming.. |
Maybe someone will come along in a few and tell of the station in Houston IIRC that switched without warning to Tejano/Mexican crap.
What the fuck do you care? Here is a hint, don't listen. You are in AZ for chrissakes. In case you haven't seen an atlas in a few years, AZ borders Mexico. |
I don't see why you think all Spanish speaking radio stations are illegal alien radio stations.. That's just a dumbass thing to do. Sorry.
you should try listening to 550 KFYI, very pro-America.
Maybe someday, someone will fork out the money to start a "White Pride, Nation Wide" radio network?
(First they'll have to find more than two people interested in listening to it – but seriously, it theoretically could happen) Dude - you should check out the radio in Wisconsin, in terms of popularity: #1 - Oldies Polka #2 -Today's Hot New Polka follwed by #3 - Conservative Talk/Polka News If I have to hear Frankie Yankovic’s “Who Stole The Kiska? (Someone Call a Cop – HEY!)” one more fucking time… |
Most of the FM radio stations in So Cal have turned to Spanish programming. What's even worse, having direct TV, many of the channels are spanish as well. What can't the "brown" folk in the US simply adopt our language instead of making us adopt theirs?
I don't see how a spanish radio station automatically signifies "illegals". There are "legal" hispanics in my town and in my neighborhood. Frequently they're good people.
I feel a song commin' on! In Heaven there is no beer That's why we drink it here And When we're gone from here All our friends will be drinking all our beer La Laaaaaa, La Laaa, La Laaaaaaaa..... "Banda" music is really just a polka in Spanish. I would know, I'm Polish. |
First, I care because 25% of the fucking radio stations in AZ are Spanish shit, which is still in the U.S. in case you haven't seen an atlas recently, so there's no excuse in this being the case. I don't need a hint dumb ass, of course I don't listen to the shit. Our proximity to Mexico does not justify this shit. I'm glad your so understanding of this shit...because i's coming your way too, sooner than you think. |

Race baiting? You're an idiot. |
I say the same thing about modern country music. |
No foreign language stations on my dial that I know of, and I listen almost daily.
edit to add: and exactly how does a foreign langauge station all of a sudden become an illegal station? There ARE plenty of legal immigrants who might want to listen to something in their native tongue, you know? |
Not it isn't. Saying it's a dumb ass thing to do, is a dumb ass thing to say. So since some of you liberals think this ok, how about if all radio and tv was in spanish? Would that then be too much, or would that be fine too? |
Its NOT all in Spanish, so thats a non-issue. |
I do, every morning to Bruce Jacobs, Hannity and Rush when I can. I forgot to list KFYI as blue. |
I didn't see any polka when I was up in Wis. 3 weeks ago, but maybe I didn't pay attention. |
For those of you who don't know, this is the kind of shit I had to listen to DAILY when I lived in California. Blasting out of cars, played by 3 of my neighbors at 2:00am reguarly, heard over and over in flea markets, and all over the radio dial. I couldn't get away from it. To me (and it's kind of personal) it's become a symbol of everything I hated about living in an area where English was quickly being replaced as the preferred language.
If you want the people around you to know you won't assimilate into their culture, I can think of no better way to alienate them by making sure they hear this: sg1.allmusic.com/cg/smp.dll?r=20.asx&link=x1xv19skeqjzi63mfquz9im |
+1. Don't race bash because of the actions of a few. |
Yeah, I'm working on getting that launched here in AZ as we speak. |
WTF are you talking about? I hate mexican music and illegal aliens...so what? |
yeah, Bruce is great I listen to him every morning on my drive to work. Rush is good too, Hanity is too much of a koolaid drinker for my taste. |
Try SoCal stations. It's way worse here. Its pretty unbelievable that Americans should expect so much to be in Spanish because we border Mexico. We are still in America. BTW- To those saying this is "race baiting", Mexican (or Spanish speakers as a whole) is not a race. |
Doens't mean you should label their music as being run by illegals. There are "legal" hispanics in this world you know, even in Arizona probably. |
Go ahead and tell us how you really feel about blacks and Jews too. |
So, I'm a liberal because I have an education and know that simply because a radio station is in Spanish, that it doesn't make it an "illegal alien" radio station? Thank you for assuming that I'm a liberal though, Mr. Know it all. Dumbass is one word by the way. ETA: Sorry, with your excellent ability at writing, I was thrown off slightly by your post. However, yes buddy, it is a dumbass thing to do. And there used to be some Spanish television channels, but I just never watched them. |
Technically, you should have said "That's a dumbassed thing to do", not "That's a dumbass thing to do." So much for your education. Orginally I should have said dumbassed also, but you're still more wrong. Of course, no matter how you said it, you'd still be wrong. |
In case you haven't noticed, radio formatting tends to follow the audiences who listen. If there are that many stations of any particular format, its because the market is there for that format. I thought you guys were all for free market, and here you think that the radio stations shouldn't follow the format that makes them money....if there was no market, these stations would be changing format in no time. |
So a free market that caters too illegal aliens is a good thing huh? That's interesting. |
Actually, it can go either way. So much for your pitiful retort. And no, I would not be wrong. Are you going to say that everyone who speaks Spanish in this country is an illegal alien? Because that's basically what you might as well be doing. I'm a white male from Mississippi, and I've at least got sense enough to know that all you are doing is being a racist bigot. Go back to the Klan rally bud. ETA - The "more wrong" thing cracked me up after you edited and put it in there. |
Mabe you should consider moving to a commie country where the state controls what is said and what language is spoken in their radio stations and T.V . We live in a great free country, try to enjoy it.
A free market doesn't care about the nationality of those giving it financial support. |
well, it's good hearing all of you from the north east weighing in with your beliefs of how the states in the southwest should feel about these illegals. Let me know how tolerable you are when you can't order a simple meal at McDonalds because NOBODY working there speaks english.
I am soooooo glad I learned spanish, it really helps in those situations |
In case you didn't recall, we here in the Northeast were some of the main portals for immigrants in the last century. We survived, even if anti-immigrant hysteria created things like the Sullivan laws here in NYS. You'll survive too, if you don't let your anti-immigrant hysteria eat you alive. If you don't like the type of service you get in your area fast food joints, complain to the management there, not someone on an anonymous internet message board who can't do anything about it. |
I don't think anyone has said anything about how you should feel about ILLEGALS. I believe what is being said, is that just because someone speaks Spanish, it does not make them an illegal, which is what the poster of this thread has implied by saying those Spanish radio stations are "illegal alien" radio stations. Thanks for jumping to a conclusion. |
What's that buzzard eating on the flag? |
A filthy maggot. |
+1. Here's a freaking clue...don't listen to the music if you don't like it! |
Umm, I know all about free markets and how they work. I don't blame the private companies for making radio shows that cater to Spanish speakers. As you said, that is the free market in action and the only thing a company is truly responsible for is its value to the shareholders. I just find it sad that it is so profitable for them to cater to Spanish speakers, in other words, it's sad that the market conditions even exist for private companies to find it profitable to forgo english. |
+1 Last time I checked, there aren't any spanish speaking individuals holding guns to our heads demanding we tune our televisions and radios to spanish programming. Go fucking cry in a corner. |
