My friend is a machinist and he wants to try his hand at making a 1911 from a block of steel, but needs the spec.  Can anyone direct me to the source?

I have a complete set of machinist drawings on hardcopy. I don't have access to a scanner, or I'd scan them for you. I bought them at a Shotgun News show in Reno like 14 years ago along with a couple of 50% frames. Never got time to finish them or start them. The plans were like $10 or so. They are complete and like 10 pages or so, but it is only for the frame, not the slide or internals. Keep checking the shows or maybe 1911.org or - www.cncgunsmithing.com/projects/1911a1frame.html

I've got machinist diagrams and an assembly guide for 1911's somewhere on my computer, but I'll be darned if I can find them.

Between the .pdf 1911 drawings and Kuhnhausen's books, I dont' know if you will find a whole lot.  I've been trying.  That drawing of the reciever will get you there, especially if you have a receiver for reference.  I have gotten one nearly half way done using Fortal.

A Bad thing about the 1911 is alot of non standard cutting tools needed to do it.  I will make a few more cutting tools when I get my shop back together and I finally have some time home.

Kuhnhausen stated more has been forgotten about 1911 design than has been remembered.
