.. for people to call after 9pm at night?
I work strange schedules, I know, but there's a whole window between 2p-9p that I am GUARANTEED to be awake. When I am on days, I get up at 5am to go to the gym. I've been on call and working days this week so I can't turn my phone off at night. I have received NO LESS than six calls from five different guys after 9:30pm at night. ARGGGGGG!!!! |
Ray Ray... I would keeeeeel you. ha ha
I'm off call as of 5pm today so I'll turn the phone off tonight so I can freakin' SLEEP!! I've always thought it was rude to call after 9pm. Maybe that's just how I was raised? |
AFTER 9pm?! WOW!
THAT'S WHEN my SO's START calling! lol! We're all night-shifters though |
It isn't appropriate to call my house after 9pm either. If the house phone rings after 9, I answer and I tell whomever it is, unless it is an ememrgency, you DO NOT call this house after 9pm. I usually get well ok, sorry I wasn't aware of that, can I talk to so&so? I repeat my statement of emergency, no calls after 9 and ask them if it is an emergency, which it never is and I tell them to call back tomorrow.
Talk about some pissed off kids. |
I'm sensing a bigger issue here... |
What do you think is the bigger issue?
If you think they are booty calls, you're mistaken. A couple of them are just friends and a couple are men that I have dated and may go out with again but nobody's getting any. |
I don't pick up the phone after 8pm, well I do but hit off right when I pick it up and than put it back in the cradle.
That pisses me off to no end as well. My boss will call me at quater til 10 to tell me that I need to call someone. My new policy is never to answer the phone after 9 if it is work related (caller ID is great)
And she'll kick yer butt again. Where's that pic?? |
I think my cutoff is 1AM at night - with a bunch of friends on the west coast, it happens .. although I usually reserve the right to call them at 9AM EST on the weekends.
9:00 PM is my cutoff.
I don't call anyone after that time, and things are winding down in my house. |
I'm normally pretty understanding.... I mean, one of the guys is a fireman/EMT and he was on duty so he called after a fire run... another is salaried and works like a dog so he doesn't leave work until very late.... but still...
Try having my mother-in-law. Anytime is fair game, from before 7:00 in the morning 'til after 9:00 in the evening. I never, ever call anyone after nine unless they specifically say they will be up. I never get to bed before ten but my mother-in-law calls at least twice a day, usually three or more times a day and it really pisses me off to hear the phone ring again after nine. My wife tryies to get to bed around 9:30 or so, but she can't as long as her mother has access to a damn phone.
Anyone trying to call me before 4pm is going to be ignored..... but i'm a nightshift person... (8am now, time for bed)
I work 3rds sometimes... and swing shifts... so my friends that know me well (i.e. girlfriends) NEVER call me outside of 2p-9p. They never know when I'm sleeping but those are the "safe" times.
Unless they are gay, they are not "just friends". They are acting like "just friends" to get in your pants. |
I don't call before 8am, and after 9pm unless the person specifically tells me I can, either on that one occation, or routinely.
John |
No calls before 8am or after 9pm. Only problem is that all of my in-laws live in other time zones (RI and FL) and none of them can understand time zones. One brother-in-law calls at 7am on Saturdays when he needs help with his crossword puzzles.
Also, I have had to explain to several boys that calling my daughters at 10:30pm is not allowed, not appropriate, and will put them on my shit list real damn quick. |
Just trying to push buttons...
...successfully, maybe. |

Really, J? Awfully sour for this time of the morning. Would you feel better if you reposted some of your pictures and I'll gather up some women on the board to swoon over you? |
End result is still the same. I'm very forthcoming about where I stand on such issues. I'd like to think I have more to offer than just what's between my legs... but, then again, I've been wrong before.... that one time..... |
9pm is when the nights part of my nights and weekend cell phone minutes kick in
Still bitter that i chose to do laundry over having dinner with you last year? It's been a year now. It's time to move on. Do you need some closure? J |
If anyone is keeping score, J's up by two. <--returning to the peanut gallery. |
What? I thought you JBTs weren't supposed to smoke crack.
I had offered to take you out to dinner last year because I was in Orlando already for business and you had just lost EVERYTHING in a hurricane. Dang.... last time I offer to do something nice for someone on this freakin' board..... |
that's because it's only 5pm at the call center in india that they're calling from. |
Of course, of course that's why you told HeldHostage to leave me alone. I love the internet. J |
I've never even spoken to Held Hostage.
What in the WORLD are you talking about???? |
I couldn't give a darn if someone phones at 2 in the morning as long as they have something remotely interesting to say.
I'm almost always awake until 12:30 or 1am.........but I wake up at 8-8:30am.
I'll call you tonight at 2:30am. |
Alright... I almost forgot your phone call. ya know the one where you "warned" me about her. I'm sure the fact you stopped talking to me after that had nothing to do with attention. You were probably just busy with one of the many men in your life. You know those guys you like remind ARFcom about every now and then. J |
Okay... so all this stuff you are making up to try to make me look bad is because I stopped talking to you? Oh dear goodness! |
I dont call people after 8pm. I let the machine answer to phone ALL the time unless the wife is out and about at night. Hell I normaly wait at least a day before I will return a call, so most people call me at work. Why dont you screen your calls ????????????
To answer your question. I think the time to stop calling is now between friends. 20 years ago we didnt have the global world we live in today. People work shifts more often, plenty of people are just too hard to get hold of during the day because they are SO busy and the work week is no longer 8 to 5 anymore. East coast, west coast hell I have friends half way across the world who call at 3am and Im happy to take the call if they are my friend. What Im getting at is you call these people friends and they dont know the cut off time to not call ??? If their friends tell'em to STFU and stop calling after 9. Like big Edsr says if their your friend you should have to say your sorry for speaking the truth. ETA -- what drama in the AM. |
I have no problem with people calling after 9. After 11 is a bit much though.
I didn't answer the phone and I have told all of them, the next day and at an appropriate hour, that I was ASLEEP when they called.
The biggest problem is that I am on call every fourth week and I can't turn the ringer off on my phone. I'm a light sleeper as it is when I'm on call... that phone rings and I think "trouble at the switch." |
I agree. But I didn't bring it into this thread... I asked a simple question. But I will not sit by while someone trys to belittle and lie about me. Would you? |
You noticed too, huh? <--once again, returning to peanut gallery. |
Ok so you never called me to warn me about Held Hostage sleeping with married members of the board or how she sends around naked pictures. OK you figured me out. I can't carrying this on my chest any longer. When the communication stopped my world crumbled. I'm slowly starting to rebuild my heart, my world. Oh the sorrow, oh the pain. What will I ever do?..........I think i'll go make some breakfast and let my dog out. J |
Late calls are rude. I usually just peep in the windows after 9PM.
You need to take this to IM, J. If you have a problem with me that's fine.
But you're making comments about a third party who isn't even involved in this thread and that is NOT COOL. |
I work second shift, so I really dont pay attention to what time I call people, but I am getting better at since I got my ass chewed by someone a couple of months ago
I hear you. I've gotten calls as last as midnight and as early as 5:30am. I've noticed during shooting campouts, it's popular among some to call members in other states at 3:00am and tell them how much fun you're having.
ok NOW it's not cool to talk about people. 10-4. J |
I wouldnt either. |
I grew up with the rule that nobody was to call our house past 9pm. Period. If you called at 9:01, my father would admonish you and hang up. I never fully understood the reasoning behind it until I was on my own. Now, it pisses me off to no end if someone calls after 9.
