All firearms are prohibited.  You will go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.  You will be issued bubba for his pleasure.

For some reason or another, i think people in matching clothes that open carry also will come and take you to a special place.

It's state by state.
In Fla. it used to be you could carry concealed up to the checkpoint. Now you cant carry into the building at all.

The Tucson Airport Authority is privately owned, one of the very few in the nation.  Although they pay for their own police force, their authority and backup comes from the Pima County Sheriff's Department.  They make their own rules, and from what I recall, loaded firearms without being a sworn officer/fed.  are not allowed.

I just flew in today.  Firearm was in the bag, locked, unloaded.

Don't know about Tucson, but when I took my CCW class in Kentucky I was told that I could carry in the unsecured portion of the airport. So If AZ allows carrying in the unsecured portion of the airport, and they allow open carry then I don't see a problem.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it will result in you and a guard or ten having some face time.

I found the law saying that airports dictate there own policies on this and since i can't find Tucsons policy i guesss i'll leave it in the fucking car.

No, it depends on where you are, it's up to the state or local authority. I know in TX we can carry (concealed of course) into the unsecure portion if it's not posted 30.06 per TX law.

I can almost guarantee that a security guard will have something to say about it, even if it is legal.  Especially if you cause any kind of "public alarm"(read - someone tells on you).  Just my opinion.

I'm from Phoenix and I have carried openly in Sky Harbor a few times with no problems. I have also met friends there at the checkpoint, in full view of Phx PD and TSA and handed a loaded, holstered firearm and mags to said friend who then slipped the paddle onto his pants along with the mags and we went to the parking lot and own our way.

I have also skipped a flight due to protest and had my unloaded firearms packed. Went to the inside waiting area by the check in counters and put my shoulder holster on, loaded my mags, loaded and charged my primary and backup guns and holstered them while awaiting my ride - all in full view of a PPD cop. He walked over to me - I thought I was gonna get "The Talk" and instead he asked what I was carrying and how I hid a G27 and a USP 45 under a hawaiian shirt so well.

We talked guns for a while and my ride showed up.

No problems at Sky Harbor. I wasn't escorted away, I wasn't "drawn down" on and I didn't go to federal pound me in the bunghole prison. All depends on state/local laws and the airport rules.

BTW, I worked airport security for a while - not the screening posts but roving patrols, pre airport police times, back in the early 80's.

On the other hand, I've had check in clerks freak when I informed them I was traveling with firearms and she screamed "GUN!!!!" and I got swarmed - all at the same airport. Go figure.

I haven't seen open carry in any airport.  SkyHarbor my not blink at it but I would bet that SFO would have a cow.  

I have seen ammunition for sale in an airport.
