Interesting...so the destruction and tragedy in your life was caused around 400 years ago? also, the destruction and tregedy seems to have brought you to a place of higher learning....if it's really so bad perhaps you should leave this evil white devil establishment and return to your roots prior to CC. also, the word indigenious sounds realy close to 'injun', I think they're setting themselves up for some irony in labeling coming full circle. Ugh...Ya know...Bottom line? It's a frikkin day off with pay.
Why the HELL is that a problem???? If they wanted to make December 1st "Liberal" day and we all got the day off with pay, *I* certainly would not give a rat's ass. Criminy... Case in point: RI was the last state in the Union to celebrate VJ day on the second Monday in August....(funny that all other states...even the Red ones had abandoned this non-PC holiday) I worked in RI many years...the place was in full holiday mode 15-20 years ago on that day. Then over the last 10 years or so, libs complained it was not PC to call it VJ Day...whatever...so it became Victory Day...then as the years went by, less companies were comfortable celebrating it...It's now called Bay Day and RI has completely fudged it to be the Governor's holiday of free beach admission.  WTH |

This is the first time I've ever actually 'observed' Columbus day - back in WI it was just a day on a calander, and a bit in the lesson plan for elemetary school kids...
The Army, on the other hand, has another view of said holiday... 4 DAY WEEKEND!!! From my observation, no one knows how to find more excuses to take the day off than the feds... |

As someone who's part Cherokee, I'm gonna go ahead and come out and say that "indigenous people's day" is about as fucking retarded as it gets. We celebrate Columbus Day as the day Columbus discovered America, not as a celebration of Columbus.
