The wife carries a Little air-weight 38 special.  She hates shooting it, but then again it is not suppost to be a fun gun to shoot.

My wife doesn't have her permit yet. When she does get it, my S & W .38 is hers, since she likes that one better than anything else in my limited collection.

My mother, who is 5'2" used to carry a 1911A1 in her purse. She complained to my father about how heavy it was so she swaped it out for a small Beretta.

I would probably get my wife or girlfriend a Walther P99 9mm compact and load it up with Winchester Rangers RA9T. No safety for her to have to worry about, it’s small, it’s light, carries 10+1 rounds, stylish (something important to women!), and is reliable. I might consider an HK P2000K (or whatever the compact model is). We'd have to find what works best for her. But since I don't have either a girlfriend or a wife right now...

I was thinking about doing that porting thing to a Glock 27 for her.

I hadn't thought of that gun, but I like that idea. I will definitely have her look at one of those. I was also thinking about the HK compact series too.
