I don't think a bad guy with a hammer and sticky fingers is going to care about a bolt/carrier and gun lock.
That's what eBay and dremels are for. |
oh yeah for sure. no parties here anyways. anyone who'll see this already knows I have 'em
I did that so no one could actually use them. when im gone for more than a day ill put it all in the safe till i get back. good neighborhood here, im willing to risk the small chance that someone will break in and take 'em while im at work, etc. |

Yeah, I like it--but I wouldn't want it, due to the theft issue. It's really too bad we can't enjoy stuff like that.
That said, my coffee table is better. It's a slab of myrtle wood--3" thick, ~2' wide, and about six feet long, with the bark still on the edges. It was professionally made into a coffee table by a cabinet shop. VERY beautiful. |
well i dunno if the circumstances fit under whats covered but at least $1000 of it is insured by NRA if it is covered.
Six feet long? 50 cal? |
Yeah maybe a bolt carrier would be too easy to replace. You should perhaps get one of those locks that looks like a magazine? Even so, that's a lot of money's worth of equipment if it DID get stolen, and the lower receiver's got the serial number on it, too.
All that said, I LOVE IT! Your coffee table fvcking rules! |

Thems fightin' words 'round here, bucko. |

+1 |

Nice work. My parents are actualy making pretty much the same thing; however, it won't be hosting an arsenal.
You know, I thought about that AFTER I posted it. I don't have a digi camera. |
Your just asking for trouble with that...its cool, but easily stolen.
That's cool.
My friend's dad broke his heel when he was working on some scaffolding and it collapsed. To pass the time while he was healing he built some glass topped coffee tables with working, intricate, and hand painted train sets. He kept the first one and sold a couple for some major money. I'll see if I can find some pics. |
yes, i am debating whether to keep them in there or not. i have some ideas for a project |
when you're gone, throw a small table cloth over it and doubtful any theif would even take notice. Just my $.02 |

+1 I thought I got a lot of raised eyebrows from the feminine nazi inlaws who are anti gun with my NRA rug, this would totally rock! Patty |
AR looks just like one of mine except for the stock. Same barrel length with bipod and similar scope. That's my "sniper rifle".
You just need a label on that says:
"IN CASE OF WAR - BREAK GLASS" |
And we're off................... Nice coffee table...I can hear it now "For the love of the second ammendment...USE A COASTER you freaks!!!!" |
And the undisputed champ of coffee tables is: The Wine Table! Very COOL |
thats some cool stuff guys....
I was thinking of doing something similar to that but with a wall mounted display case. But Im not a good wood worker... |
I would like it more if the firearms were loaded and funtional. What the fuck good is an unloaded firearm? Useless! |
Well...like one of the posters here, *I* don't even have one...But I sure as hell am getting ideas!!!!
These sure do make my ol' cable spool coffee table of my newly married days look shabby.....er...shabbier |
I didnt build it, my dad did a long time ago and has now given it to me. as for the loaded gun thing...I think I would like to build something that displays the guns...loaded, with fast access locks...displaying the guns thru glass with a metal cage around it |

My coffee table [downstairs in the old part of the house] are two metal lined [zinc?] wooden ammo crates from the Alcan ammo plant. Alcan later became S&W ammo and then Fiochi bought them out. They are full of .308
Better flip those wine bottle over |
Very cool. I bet you I can get my pistol out nad loaded before you! Neat idea though. CH |
Now that is exactly what I'm looking for in my retirement shadow box. Where did you get it?
hell, i could build a coffie table like that with an AL frame, covered in wood. with a instant access keypad and a 1.5 BR lexan top. it might weigh in at 250 lbs but it would be cool. and i would be afaird of what it would cost... my guess 1500 for walnut or other nice wood.
I could sell you some 3/4'' multilayer polycarbonate sheet and if you put a nice enough cover over it there no way in hell anyone would get in there.
wheeeew! that sounds pretty cool. now what about the same features in a wall mounted frame... |
A buddy installs satalite TV. In this guys house his coffee table had thick legs that went into the floor and when you flip a switch the bottom of the table rises about six inches and underneath the floor was a shelf with all the gaming systems and corresponding remotes. I actually saw it that was a kickass coffee table! They guy was real nonchalont (sp?) about it too, but he also had a big plasma screen TV with surround sound to play it on
sure that would be easy, but some body makes a normal gun case that is like what we are talking about, steel frame, with BR plastic, it looks like a normal gun cabinet eta: if i did one as a coffee table i could set it up with a car type remote to pop open a hand gun department, now that would be slick |
