Got the last of my yearly raises this year. Something like 30 cents an hour. ED revamped the pay scale and it hurt me quite a bit as the raise I was supposed to get per the other pay scale was a bit bigger.
No more yearly raises with the new scale either. Next raise comes in 07. |

Only 3.5% up from 3% last year. However the quarterly bonuses are running 28% to 21%.

I didn't even see it coming!  They just gave it to me. I must be doing something right.

Well, when you consider the 12% increase in health benefits, the 14% increase in Electricity, the 24% increase in natural gas prices and not to mention the increased fuel prices and resulting food price hikes, my hubby's 5% increase falls WOEFULLY short of making the grade.

7.5% for making Sergeant last month.
7.5% "Educational Incentive" for having a MS. New program goes into effect next month. 5-10% accross the board raise for all. Actual % not announced yet. This too will kick in in November. So a nice 20-25% raise in a two month span! Great timing for all of this with a new baby on the way!

I was working as a job-shopper and got a little over 4% raise. Then I got hired by the company I was working with and got a 13% pay increase, but will get screwed on any overtime. Also moved to a place with no state or county income tax and where rent is about 20% less.

3% .gov manditated raise- This was the highest raise we could get...lower figures were available to non-performing people.

Over the past 6 years, I've averaged about a 1.5% to 2% raise a year. Lately the trend seems to be for us to get a 3% raise, and then have it completely offset by increased insurance premiums.

We got a new contract, which gave us 70 cents more per hour.
But... The new contract did away with 1 of the 3 shift differentials - so now there are only 2 shift scales as compared to the previous 3. I worked at a huge remodel job, and we frequently had to work strange hours so as not to make noise when the office workers were there. 2000-0500, 0300-0330, 0100-1000, all kinds of weird stuff. With the new shift designations, I made $128 gross less per week. Saturdays used to be paid OT - period. Now the employer can make Saturday a make-up day based on many things. Such as - if the job lacks material or is waiting on another trade, we can be sent home on Tuesday. Then told to come back on Saturday - for straight pay. We have to pay the increase in our health care coverage. Details should be available this week. Probably will take one half of that 70 cent raise. Anything over 8 hours each day was OT. That has been changed to anything over 10 hours each day. Now the employers are making some guys work 4 tens. And they can do that when you arrive Monday morning - 'oh by the way, we're working 10s this week.' That's just the tip of the iceberg. Then I got laid off 3 weeks ago. EDIT: it's really getting old watching the other trades get raises all across the board, and us getting the shaft. We're one of the lowest paid trades around here. Hell, the sheet metal workers make more than we do. |

Guess it'll only get worse at Delta. I know a Delta retiree. He's had to go back to work. I flew Delta last week to El Paso and back. Both times the plane was half empty (or half full depending on your outlook). Hope ya'll start doing better. |

I have a good idea that it has a lot to do with the raise. I think someone was aware of my unhappiness. The other job didn't come through  , but I am trusting in the Lord that everything is on it's intended course. The light at the end of our tunnel is my wife graduating and getting a job, then we can move away from our quickly deteriorating neighborhood and I can sleep soundly at night.

Not only did I NOT get a raise this year, my job got sent to El Paso so a Mexican can do my job for less than half of what I was earning. My only consultation prize is that they (the Mexicans) are doing so poorly in El Paso that they may close that plant as well.
Vulcan94 edit to add: Funny how we were profitable at twice the pay and they are not profitable at less than half the pay.

+1 I got a 14% raise 2 years ago because we were down to two CAD operators and one (a worthless POS) quit because he was mad so they gave me a raise to stay, little did they know I had no plans on leaving. Now I just get 2.5% -3% which is barely noticeable but I am already above the median salary for my job in my market. I said screw it and now I am going back to college to get a different degree and hopefully a better job in some other field than engineering. |

I work for a large, well known company with offices or plants in most countries of the world.
I guarantee that every one of you has used some of our products in the last year. Over the the last 10 years, we've gotten less than 3% total in raises. Considering that inflation has averaged 4% for each of those years, not to mention increasing healthcare costs, and other costs-of-living..... The hourly workers here are in the hole. It's depressing. Our company creed bacame greed many years ago. Why am I still here? I can start drawing retirement in a couple of years if I want. And, they could start giving raises again any time. Ha!Ha!Ha! That was funny!  Whooo. Made myself laugh. |

Well, I just started my new job as an EMT @ 6.09/hr
, which is much less than the $10.15 I was making at the grocery store. However this new job I will have MUCHO overtime, so it all evens out in the end.

Uhh not really dude, if you make $6.09 per hour your time and a half rate is only $9.14/hour unless you make double time on overtime you are losing out. $6.09/hour + 15 hours overtime @ $9.14 = $19796.40/year = $9.51/ hour $10.15/hour = $21112/year Unless you are getting wicked benefits you should go back to the store. $6.09/hour seems really low for an EMT is that common? |

I went from $6.50 an hour to about 200 bucks a day 2-3 days a week. The gas station sucked. Now I'm back in the familys heating and air company. I'll be here till I get on the FD, PD, or EMS.
