I need to lose about 15-20 to fit into my suits, which I haven't worn in a while. I have put on some weight in the past year, I am 6' 280# right now.
I need to look good in my suit in a week and a half. Right now the jacket won't close and the pant waist is VERY tight. I'd rather not buy a suit if I don't have to. If I walk 2 miles a day and start on Atkins right now, can I dump that much weight? Are there better methods - what about a 3-5 day fast? I know that your body will try to compensate for lack of food, but is a fasting still more efficient? |
My friend once asked me "Hey wanna lose 10 ugly pounds real fast??"
I was dieting and said "HELL YEAH!!!" He said "CHOP OFF YOUR HEAD!!!" |
I know that, but what can I do SHORT TERM to dump 20 pounds, quick. Besides cut my schlong off (well, that would be 30 pounds.....) |
My dad did Atkins...once you get into ketosis it comes off fast. It usually takes a few days to hit ketosis, so I don't know if a week and a half would be enough time. Good luck.
Yup.. only liquid should be water, a nice multi-vitiamin a day and very small portions. (people who have gastric bypass.. you should only eat that much per day) Then excercise 3 or 4 hours a day, but be sure not to shock your system with so much so soon. 6'/280 damn near give your self a heart attack by going from nothing to full throttle. Of course, I'm not a nutritionist. Go ask one of them, or a doctor. edit:
Then go into porn and you won't need the suit. |

Well there's your problem! You mean ounces. You obviously have the two mixed up and weigh much less than you thought. |

Dont ya just love this... you ask a LEGITAMITE question and you get a bunch of wise ass answers!!
Now why cant someone invent a tapeworm pill you swallow... you lose the weight you need then when you reach your goal weight you swallow another pill to kill the tapeworm? |
meth.
I don't think is is possible to "look good" if you lose that much that fast. You'll still be too heavy or you'll be dehydrated sick, whatever. |
If I start Atkins, can I exercise at the same time? If so, how much can I exercise?
I did Atkins once before for about 2 weeks, and I lost 23 pounds during that time. I did no exercise however. OR should I just fast? |
Stop looking for shortcuts. Eat healthy and lean, square meals but in small portions and in small doses spread over the whole day, get good sleep, take a good suplement and excercize like there's no tommorrow. Nothing else is good for you. |
Oh, and situps. Sounds like the middle is where you need to slim up.
Instead of an unrealistic, and unhealthy, goal, how 'bout you get the suits altered and start on a long-trem plan to get truly fit and healthy?
Fasting works, whether people want to whine about it or not.
Anorexia involves a distorted view of self... KNOWING you are fatass and fasting doesn't hurt no one. - BG (20 pounds lighter over 21 days) |

+1, Go easy on the junk food, don't pig out, and get out and exercise. The only true way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. |
15-20? And you're six foot? Try 80-90.
And just to eliminate the impression I'm heartless or a hypocrite, I'm six foot, 230, and I'm working my fat ass off right now too. |
a friend of mine lost 18lbs in 3 days for a flight physical. he took his xbox, a couple boxes of total cerial, some milk and a case of water to a hotel with a nice workout room.
he did this: http://www.blessedherbs.com/mucoid.html and PT'd 3 times a day. |

Atkins works great for some people.
Actually, it would work for the others but they just can't stick to it. Read the book. Dennis Jenkins

No offense taken - I know I am a fatass. My mid-term plan is to get on a sensible diet and exercise program, my original post was just how to lose 20 of it fast. |

This is not rocket science.
Don't do Akins. If you want to keep the weight off, you need to follow a meal plan that you can use the rest of your life. Carbs = Sugar. Your body turns all carbs into sugar. Period. I don't care how "healthy" those carbs are, they still become sugar. Special K is considered a healthy cereal, right? It is still a bowl of sugar as far as your body is concerned. Sugar + Insulin = triglicerides (sp?). Triglicerides = stored body fat We have all been raised to eat carbs in all their forms. That is why so many people are overweight. Stop doing that. Also, we have also been progammed to beleive that fats are bad for you. That is not true, fats are just as important as protein and carbs. Replace some carb calories with protein calories (meat, eggs, cheese, non-salted nuts). Stop being addicted to carbs (milk, pasta, potatos, beans, cereal, bread, crackers, and so on). Don't drink your calories (Milk, orange juice, alcohol....yes alcohol, you can't lose weight getting hammered on beer). AND EXERCISE for crying out loud. Take a brisk walk for 30 min, three to four times a week will do wonders. Nothing fancy. Don't starve yourself either. You have to eat to lose weight. That is a fact lost on a lot of people. Calories will keep your metabolism higher. Starve yourself and your body goes into conservation mode. Yes, you can lose weight by brute force starvation. But once you start to eat again you will become heavier than when you started. That is all there is to it. No magic pills, videos, or "diets". Just a change in lifestyle. But that is the real bitch, having to change your lifestyle, ain't it? ETA: Weight loss of 1 to 2 lbs per week is good. You don't want to go much faster then that if you want to keep it off. |
its pointless..a short term fix will only yeild short term results..loosing weight is a process...sure you can starve yourself but your body bull burn up muslce tissue for its protein requirements and you will still be fat..but flabby too...
I would come up with a sensible diet plan (atkins works great for alot of people), an exercise plan and in the mean time go out and buy youself a cheap suit. |
The bodies metabolism tends to slow a great deal when it is starving, making it counter productive.
Eat several small meals throughout the day, workout 5-6 days a week, drink plenty of water. You will lose weight, as well as feel, and be healthy. |
This worked for me.
Eat better and cut out the extras (junk food). One thing I did was stop drinking regular soft drinks. I got use to diet drinks and it helped. |
LOL I am not of much help here. You know who would is my brother who was on the wrestling team in HS. Those guys had to drop weight from what I learned living with my brother the fastest most effective way to drop weight is dehydrating yourself. naturally, it is not a long-lasting course of action, but you asked how to drop weight fast/ |
Fastest way to drop 20 lbs is to fast/extreme diet for 5-7 days, then reduce your daily calories to absolute minimum. <---that depends on your weight. You'll have to increase cardio, or else your body will slow down from lack of fuel.
You can do it in 40 days. |
You can probably lose 10 lbs by taking Lasix, a powerful diuretic. This will only be a water weight loss.
Everything in this thread will work.....just alot of them are hard on your body. I would got this route, eat small meals (less than 100 calories every 2 or 3 hours.....never go longer than 3 hours without eating. Exercise twice a day. Get a stationary bike and ride AT LEAST 40 minutes at a time. Weight training is by far the most effective due to the fact of the weight loss effect continues after your workout ends. You should go to a doctor and get checked out and possibly get so phentermine.......that shit works. |

I was serious |

Your not going to loose 20lbs of fat in a week or two, to do so could kill you or cause damage to your organs, its like gaining 20lbs in a week, its a shock to your body. How long did it take you to put on the weight, it wasnt overnight. You might loose 10lbs of water weight but thats it. and you wont be any thinner simply lighter. 3-5 lbs max is about the best actual results you can get, and that is working your ass off no easy way to loose weight.
I didn't think of that........but I am sure it would work. I have never seen a fat meth head. |
Atkins will take it off really fast. 1.5 weeks you could loose 20 lbs.
You could get one of the suits fitted, or get a new one. Then you don't have to do that to yourself. |
You need to eat to lose weight. Do less than 1500 calories a day and the weight will drop off. Do not do Atkins, eat a balanced diet made up of lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and get enough fiber.
You should not be losing more than 5lbs per week. I was on modified Atkins (50g of carbs a day) and I lost 20lbs in 6 weeks. I lost 50lbs over the course of 6 months (215 -> 165). Best thing that I ever did. Now I am 175 going to the gym four times a week. |

Get shot down in an f-16. With little to no survival gear, and be on the run for you life for 2 weeks.

Ditto. This works. 1500 calories/day, try to keep your fat grams under 20/day, and drink a shitload of ICE COLD WATER! Not only does the water keep your body hydrated and flushes toxins out of your body making you healthier, cold water makes your body burn energy to warm it up to your body temperature. Your shit will look odd. Be prepared |
