That being said.  I'm about to pull the battery out of the smoke detector in the hallway.  It's half way down, across from the bathroom door.  The steam from the shower triggers it.  I need to move it, but where?  I like where it is now since the bedrooms are down the hallway.  I see some of the new detectors have a "Hush" button.  Anyone have one of those?  Thanks for the help.  Don't forget to change the batteries in your detectors.  Do you have enough fire extinguishers in the house?

Why don'y you replace it with a heat detector and move the smoke detector down the hallway near the bedrooms?

(Remember to keep the smoke detector 12" or more away from walls - smoke fills up the middle of the hallway before the corners.)
