Its Virginia.  The names are endless.

But I think my particular town was just a forest during our founding fathers time/war of northern agression.

Henry Huntington.  Huntington Beach...

Nephew of the famous Rail magnate.  A successful person in his own right, his collections at the Huntington Library,  Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens are hard to top.  His Red Cars brought rail travel to Southern California which promoted the development of Orange County.  Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the Disney movie, followed the conspiracy theme that the Red Cars were shut down to promote cars and freeways....

Very much like the Springfield guy.

A couple of people from my state are Davy Crockett & Alvin York (lots of famous people from TN but these fit the Jebediah Springfield part)

Here's an interesting line I found during a search: The Republicans have the most strength in East Tennessee, which is arguably consists of the most Republican counties in the entire U.S.A. The people of East Tennessee have not elected a Democrat to represent them in Congress since 1878
