I prefer a little leftover goodness on my grill from the previous animal flesh. I have seen some people that were really nuts about having a spotless grilling surface. Is the leftover grill dirt bad for you in any way or is better looked at as seasoning.

If you preheat your grill, it's probably just gooey Carbon. Likely carcinogenic in massive doses to lab rats, possibly gastrically adventurous in the short term...

I cook the grate then wire brush it... then the beast flesh goes on!
