You watch a PBS special on the 60's and you're fucking revolted. The 60's is the worst thing to happen to this country in the 20th century after the Great Depression.

I'm just slightly more liberal then Attila the Hun yet I still see some good from the 60s.  After all, I was born then!

Turn to PBS, and you'll see what I mean.

I wasn't alive then, so I knew I was conservative when I finally realized that comparing the two generations (then and now - namely the college lib/Sheehan moonbat types) that hippies are still very much in existence, and that's fucking revolting.

Some hippies have seen the light, they actually went on to real careers and making money like good 'ole fashioned capitalist pigs. Those "converted" hippies sell the Socialist merchandise to their disinfranchised comrades. After all, only capitalism can provide the parts and labor to keep those old buses running year after year after year.

You young ens that don't appreciate a good hippy haven't watched many Cheech N Chong movies.   I used to sneak into them when I was a kid because my parents didn't want me watching "that crap!"

70's were fun, but had bad music. 80's had better music but too many drugs. 90's had Clinton and that fat sow of his in the White House, -500. The 2000's (double-oughts?) have photo-radar and ATM's with more languages than the fucking UN. This is not a good trend.

Life is what you make of it - doesn't matter what the clothe/hair styles are or the music on the radio.

There is no question that the counter culture movement hurt the US in the 60s. However, it was a time of explosive change and, yes, there were also improvements. Good things came out of the 60s too.

I keep getting this feeling that in recent (from the 1800s on) history, when a culture values style over substance, you get a period of overwhelmingly liberal zeitgeist. And there is a high likelihood that a recession will follow.

I need to find a good book on 1960s society. Frankly the 50s were an amazing time too. Amazing how much things changed in just a few years- the clean, jet-set looks of things in the 50s to the crazy, pell-mell wackiness of the 60s.

The 60's indeed spawned the begining of the end. Anti US policies, moral bankruptcy, ultra Liberalism, Glogalism, etc. 60's had cool cars thats it
