My dad hasnt used the chain saw in so long he dosent remember the proper mixture and no longer has the paper work for it. Its an old homelite not sure of the year it was bought in.

Any info will help!

Synthetic oils can be mixed thinner than the old petroleum base stuff. 40:1 with synthetics should be fine.

A friend of mine that was a tree feller for a logging company for several years always mixes em 16:1 even if the manufacturer calls for 32:1. His saws foul plugs but run for ever. They are greasy as hell from the unburnt oil puking out the muffler and backflowing out the carb, but they run forever. Just keep a clean plug handy if you use this method.

What is the brand?  Most single gallon bottels sold are for 50 to 1.

Husky and Stihl  manuals recommend  50:1,  ...  Most Husky and Stihl  chainsaw mechanics recommend a 40:1 mix with "High Quality" oil.    If you are in an emergency, and can't find 2 stroke oil, use 30 weight mixed at 25:1
