I had read that the grand jury investigating him was about to end.  It was today or never.

Who is going to replace him as House Majority Leader?

Delay says that the DA is a partisan Democrat and FNC says that a previous case (the DA against Kay Bailey Hutchison (sp) was thrown out "without merit."

One of my spies told me this morning that it was probably going to come down this afternoon.

Its good and bad.  It makes the repubs look like crooks, which is bad.  We'll have to get new leadership.  At the same time, Delay was turning into a big-govt, handout, hosebag anyway.  Perhaps we can get a conservative instead.

I have no idea who will be next.  Perhaps Ron Paul?  Oh yeah, not in our greatest dreams

The socialists always go on their whitch hunts against conservative leadership. They have been quite successful over the decades in keeping us on the defensive and undermining our efforts in thsi fashion.


Now I am all for eliminating corruption in gov't but on these  terms there'd be no one left in Washington. Not altogether opposed to that but this is so blatantly a partisan attack that it is hard to take seriously.

The Travis county DA (Earl) will indict anything Republican.  A long history of it in fact. He's never won a court case.

I'd appreciate it if he would apply the same fervor to the criminals I arrest, but that's not going to happen.

Thanks for another example of a partisan attack against conservative leadership by the socialists. Never cared for Lott, or Delay for that matter, but their intent is clear.

The majority of politicians in DC ARE crooks....its just that they are not held accountable by anyone with real power. Does anyone really believe we could not survive w/o those slugs generally making our lives a little more miserable on a daily basis?


One example...take a close look at the taxes (on just the federal level) you pay, and what will happen to your life if you do not pay those taxes.

Republicans, Democrats...they are all a boatload of crooks IMO, and if they are not when then get to DC, they soon will be.

Also, you can apply the above to every level of Gov't.

So regardless how this turns out DeLay is finished?
I understand House rules require him to step down while under indictment.
I have consistantly heard that the indictments were without merit and would be thrown out when they got to court.

What does it mean that the "Texas Grand Jury" has indicted him?
Does it mean that they agreed to press charges and now it goes to court?
Would it be a jury trial?

Larry Craig has been there for some time.  
He seems pretty stright-forward.

I'm sure there are plenty of other examples.
Tom DeLay has always seemed like one of the better ones.

DeLay Indicted in Campaign Finance Probe

WASHINGTON (AP) - A Texas grand jury on Wednesday charged Rep. Tom DeLay and two political associates with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, an indictment that could force him to step down as House majority leader.

DeLay attorney Steve Brittain said DeLay was accused of a criminal conspiracy along with two associates, John Colyandro, former executive director of a Texas political action committee formed by DeLay, and Jim Ellis, who heads DeLay's national political committee.

GOP congressional officials said the plan was for DeLay to temporarily relinquish his leadership post and Speaker Dennis Hastert will recommend that Rep. David Dreier of California step into those duties.

Some of the duties may go to the GOP whip, Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri. The Republican rank and file may meet as early as Wednesday night to act on Hastert's recommendation.


The indictment against the second-ranking, and most assertive Republican leader came on the final day of the grand jury's term. It followed earlier indictments of a state political action committee founded by DeLay and three of his political associates.

The grand jury action is expected to have immediate consequences in the House, where DeLay is largely responsible for winning passage of the Republican legislative program. House Republican Party rules require leaders who are indicted to temporarily step aside from their leadership posts.

However, DeLay retains his seat representing Texas' 22nd congressional district, suburbs southwest of Houston.

DeLay has denied committing any crime and accused the Democratic district attorney leading the investigation, Ronnie Earle, of pursuing the case for political motives.

Democrats have kept up a crescendo of criticism of DeLay's ethics, citing three times last year that the House ethics committee admonished DeLay for his conduct.
