Which do you like better? I am thinking about getting a late blazer/early tahoe or a yukon. Which one?

P.S. Why did gm make chevy and GMC?

GMC is typically a little nicer interior, the engine and drivetrain is the same in both.

both the same thing except that GMC is dressed up a bit. No sense in wasting money, stick with Chevy, IMO.

Arent they almost the same thing?

Whichever is cheaper. Last time around, my GMC Sierra was a tad cheaper than the same Chevy Silverado. Since I don't care about the tag on the grill...

Kinda like Honda & Acura, except the Chevy / GMC are more similar..
GMC's have more 'luxury' features.

Though, the newer GMC with 4-wheel steering is not available in the Chevy that I know of..

GMC builds trucks.
Chevy re-badges GMCs.

I like the GMC grille more than the Chevy one. I believe you can get a more loaded w/options GMC truck than a Chevy one.

As a (former) GMC / Pontiac / Suzuki trained salesman, I'll throw in my opinion here.  GMC and Chevy do have the same drivetrain and although parts on the outside can be swapped, they are different.  Chevy is aiming for a younger demographic, with GMC going more for sophistication.  You can order two identical trucks and the GMC will be about $ 750.00 more.  However, you'll notice things like standard towing packages and running boards.  Once you add these on to the Chevy, the price is the same.  The one area where you'll lose - this is for you Chokey - is in resale.  The GMC is worth about $ 1000.00 more at trade-in because fewer are made.  Any time an item is made in fewer numbers, it is of more value.  Thus, you buy the GMC.  BTW, for every 10 cars I sold, 8 were Yukon / Yukon Denali models.  And nobody ever ordered or wanted 4-wheel steering.  It's just another drivetrain to maintain and drag on mileage, in the customer's opinions.
Also:  The '07 GMC Yukons will be styled like the Cadillac Escalade but will be available starting in January/February '06!

Thats what I thought. Slap on a few pieces of plastic, upgrade the interior, and add a few thousand to the price tag for the Yukon.

Get a mid 90's Tahoe a 2 door if you can find one clean. One of the best 4x4's ever built. It will go where the jeeps go and pull/tow quiet a bit. The sheet metal used on these were a bit thicker then most other vehicals so dents were not as bad and you can acctually sit on the hood with out it caving in. My 97 has 110,000 ans still runs like new and no major reapirs ever except for normal maintance and one water pump.

+1

I got a 'Hoe, but my brother got a Yukon. Dad got old and bought the Suburban. The '89-'98 trucks are tough as nails, as long as you don't mind replacing windshield wiper motor, water pump, and taillight circuit boards.

GMC vs Chevy, it's true about resale value. Chevys generally are lower on the totem pole of value than GMC's, though they are literally the same truck.
