Let me state for the record that I hate my job. The days drag on and on, and I hate it.
That said, on my way to work today, I was trying to decide if it was Wednesday or Thursday. I really was confused. Then I remembered the school counselor was there yesterday, and she is only there Mondays and Wednesdays. Great! That meant it was Thursday! One more day, then TGIF!!!! And then I got to work, and was slapped in the face with cold, harsh reality: Today is only TUESDAY! Monday was so bad that it actually had seemed three days long... Have I mentioned that I hate my job? |
|
Since I work 4-10s, thursday is my friday. Too bad about your looooooong week. I hate it for you.

24/48's are wonderful too... I lose track of the date and have to remember if I worked yesterday or work tomorrow.

If you ever get annoyed just become self employed, I love to work at nothing all day.

I run the emotionally disturbed middle school unit for 10 school districts. I was told that these were ED kids, but truth be told, they are mostly juvenile delinquents who have been kicked out of their home schools, which I am not equipped to deal with. Some that are truly ED have problems that far surpass the level that can be accomodated in the public school system. I have quite a few kids that I really COULD help, but the few are ruining it for the others.
Of course, the solution seems to be for us to just keep having meetings. These meetings don't solve anything, and take away from time better spent with the kids. Every time I turn around, there is a new policy or procedure, most of which are rendered obsolete within a day or two. New rewards and incentives are discussed with the kids before talking with me to determine feasability and appropriateness, and quite often, I have to be the "bad guy" and take away or deny what the person who floats in and out every couple of weeks has offered. (No, a violent kid with a foul mouth, explosive temper, and no self control can NOT go help the kindergarten kids at lunch time! JEEZ!!!) To make things even more frustrating, repeated calls to child protective for my abused/neglected kids don't get results, because they call and give these folks 24 hour notice before they go out! Aaarrrrggggh!!! Oh, and I get another student tomorrow... |

I think you answered your own question. |

It sounds to me you need to professionally draft a letter to the :
a) Principal b)School board c)State DSHS d)Governor e)President And anyone else who can/will help. Yea, right ... that is the problem- nobody cares. Sounds like the kids who were not raised properly should not be in with the short bus kids. It is actually an outrage they would dump them all there. Sorry. Hopefully you can do some good... OR- Don't let it sap the life out of you- find another job. |
|
Yeah, but at least you're getting a paycheck. Ohhhh, wait a minute. That's right, you're not. ETA: You need to go in there and bitch slap someone into giving you your damn paycheck! |

but at election time, EVERY politician is the "pro-education" one? I don't get it.
I'm a classroom teacher. Trust me, I'm with you in spirit. |
|
M_M I'm sorry you hate your job. I think its wonderful what you're trying to do to help distrubed kids and you're BOSS for being in the National Gaurd and giving your time and energy to our nations needs.
Hang in there girl. Patty |

I'm convinced that one of the key's to happiness is finding out what you love to do and somehow figuring out how to make a living doing it.
Happiness and contentment will make up for alot of money. |

Sounds like the public school system has been taking lessons from Corperate America. |

She's sure qualified... And if Mami gets to be a GD Mod, you have to throw some action my way so I have something to do over in the WF. Nothing exciting ever happens in there. Damn women toe the line. |

I know it's no real consolation but I've had the same conversation with my wife who taught as a resource specialist in high school for nearly 30 years in California. Lawyering up was the trend here to keep even the worst kids in school.... |

I hear ya sister.
I just got back from a shitload of business travel, meetings, site vists, etc., every day all day. And now I realize its Tuesday and I just worked 9 days straight. Lovely. |

Hey, you have your hands full (ahem!) trying to keep PlaymoreMinds and DaisyWench in line. Its' always the frisky ones. |

I finally got my damn paycheck! Yeah, it was sort of "adding insult to injury" when we didn't get our checks last week!!! |
|

Unfortunately, those teaching aids are not allowed. On a POSITIVE note, however, since they aren't supposed to have any gun stuff, I was able to confiscate a copy of the newest Cheaper than Dirt catalog yesterday! |

Two students were tazed this week in our county in two separate incidents. Maybe the teachers and staff will start getting some much deserved respect. |
||
|
I have no doubt, you disposed of it quite properly See ? Your job aint SO bad, hahaha |
|
|
Everyone needs something to hate, thats why jobs were invented.
|
|
It's always the frisky ones, or it's always the ones you want to frisk? Ah, damn. It's that 'prurient' mind again. This place is rubbing off on me. |

No, that's why marriage was invented, haven't you learned? |

School is so long and shitty that all my days roll together. M-F is one big blurb of homework, class, and sleep. Days and nights no longer have meaning. I took a 2 hour nap at 12:00 and then a 3 hour nap at 4:00pm.
8 hr sleep days...no longer exist. |

Karina,
My heart goes out to you. Like I told you when we shot at Ralph's...............I admire you for what you're doing, but I sympathize with you for being in education in Texas. It just doesn't pay! God bless you though............just remember to breathe deep, say a prayer, and get back to the tasks at hand. Peace, Dragonfire52 |

EMS runs 24/72 back home...that is a nice schedule! |

Aye pobrecita, lo siento. |

Unfortunately most teachers don't seem to care these days and the times you find one who does, the leadership seems to ruin it all. It sucks, but unfortunately you have to eat.
I am thinking I would like to do some teaching when I retire in a lot of years but from what I see with my kids at school, I don't know if I would want to handle it. I would throttle some of these rednecks, and we have a pretty subdued school system. |
