I already do work study for the school but that all goes directly for paying tuition.

I'm looking to get a job around town and was wondering what a decent entry-level job (I have a high school degree, plenty of regular old job experience) that doesn't completely suck.

Actually, I would recommend checking out work at JM Huber, or one of the other forest products manufacturing outfits in Maine.  I believe Louisiana Pacific also has a good sized operation there, and there are obviously others.

The pros of forest products is generally while the work can be a little boring at times, the money is ok, and also the mills are generally in Bum Fuck Egypt where you can chew, scream at the top you your lungs and talk about guns without anyone batting an eye.

Just don't get sucked into it, because while it is a fine dabbling area for a young man, you do not want to be a 45 year old millworker.

Additionally, you might see if any of the knuckleheads for companies like Plum Creek are hiring in areas of your major.

It helps if you have a technical, industrial or engineering background.  I have seem some slots for CAD/CAM types at these places as well.

Also, you might try firefighting for the Forest Service.  While I personally think wildland firefighting is stupid and gay for me, I realize there are plenty of other people, including people I like, who make a living fighting fire in the woods.

Do it for a couple of years, rake in the hazard pay and bang the smokejumper chicks.  You can ski in the offseason or go to Europe.  Again, though, don't do it for more than a couple of years.

Try to find work at a gunstore, range, sporting goods place, etc. At least it will feed your hobby.
