Historically I would say no - but this one has an AMD processor. wifi & DVD will have to be added. Are laptops difficult to upgrade? Office Depot

I'm running a Presario V4020 currently. It's been great. And for $399?! You might end up needing more RAM, but that's a cheap upgrade.

I got a referbished Compaq Armada M70 1ghz P3 for $500.
Been working great for several months. |

All I can say is you get what you pay for. As far as upgrades, you can only boost memory most of the time and a larger hard drive.

That V2000 probably has the same innards as my 4020, except for a different processor and motherboard chipset. AMD Sempron is more than likely a fine processor. I went with this model because it had GREAT battery life (Intel Centrino). It's held up really well.
Don't let the $399 price discourage you. I'd bet it's a perfectly fine laptop for your purposes (basically a home machine, right?) Memory upgrades are pretty much the only thing you can do to "boost" performance. You CAN upgrade the hard drive if needed, though. It's easily accessible via a panel on the bottom of the machine. Processor upgrades? Forget about it. |
