Ammo is just as hard to find as .223/5.56 now and the cheap stuff is only going to be $10 cheaper for 1000 instead of $30-$60 like it used to be.

It's going to continue to be this way too.

It seems like one of the biggest reasons for people to get an AK over an AR is now no longer:
Ammo isn't cheap anymore and it's not everywhere.

You've all heard to the comments, "I'm getting an AK, if SHTF the ammo is cheap an everywhere".
Not no more.

I fail to see how this is funny.  It shows that our weapons and ammo will be taken away and just another step.

The us military and police can not use they're ammo.  Will not be proficient with it.  Still as reliable as it was before.  SHTF for shortages statistically since they know of the problem they will be more prepaired then people who belive there's is better and not as great of a need to stock pile.

They can shoot the ammo of most foreigners that would attack our country.

???

If they banned all 7.62 1943 production, we'd still have enough stock piled in this country for another fucking 100 years...

Just like 8mm in Yugoslavia/Romania.

BTW: 7.62 1943 goes in waves, it'll come in a month we'll have it cheaper (apparently) again, if any price change. I think Russia is trying to fill out an order currently from what I heard.

Well sorta, if your going to shoot such a small cartridge I'd at least want the ergonomics of the AR so I can hit what I'm aiming that much more tighter and more consistantly.

I saw $117 on the weekend but that was high.  More like $100 (as you said) if you look.

In any event, it wouldn't be funny.  Different weapons and ammo types have their place and purpose and I don't like to see any fellow firearms owner getting fucked over.

Yep.  And you can get it all day long at that price.  So I'm still confused, MillerSHO.  What's your point again?

Have you guys not been in the market lately or something?

Most online places are out, the places that are not are charging $120-$130.

All of my local stores are out, there was only a few pallets at the last gunshow and again it was beging sold for $120-$130 1000rnds.

Where the F have you guys been?

Pull up your $100 for 1000 and look, it will be on back order.

There's a shortage of 7.62?

The only ammo I saw being sold by the case yesterday was Wolf 7.62 for $99.

That’s still $60 cheaper than the PMC stuff at my local dealer. I went to the show to specifically buy two cases of 5.56 but only found the stuff in 120 round bags for $29.95

Good fucking God... what happens if I said I couldn't get a cup of coffee at the work today and ran on the internet and told everyone there is a coffee shortage coming... sounds crazy, huh?

Just because your two-bit lame shop didn't stock anything this weekend doesn't allow yo uto go into a tail spin. NATIONAL prices are about the average I've seen inthe past 6 months, including the fact that gas is at it's highest ever.

And the way your making fun of people, you sound like you DON'T own anything that shoots 7.62X39.  So are you just trying to mess with us because we don't agree with your choice of firearm?  Found a guy here that has over 400 cases in stock at $100 bucks per.  That's ONE GUY.

OMFG, you guys are on tilt today.

Of course you're= you are, geez can't someone make a mistake.

Most of the main online retailers are on back order for wolf.

The most popular stuff goes first and hopefully the secondary stuff will keep people at bay long enough before the popluar stuff gets back in stock.

Also, as the popular retail outfits drain their stock, the last popular stores will pick up the slack.
Again, hopefully the less popular stores can keep people going long enough before the less popular stores run out.

Hell if anything, I'm pointing out what could happen in your guys area cause it seemed to happen here first.

Don't fucking shoot the messager assholes.

What a bunch of dickheads today.

BTW I love Ak's.

I didn't think a divide still existed on this board between the AK and the AR.
I thought it was always "Get both".

From what I can see, ALL ammo has gone up in price.

I keep tabs on Wolf 9mm Luger, .223, and 7.62x39

While some stores might be out of stock, most of the time I'm paying on AVERAGE $0.10/rd of either caliber Wolf cartridge. That's not too bad but I bought 7.62x39 at 7-8 cents a round, .223 at 9 cents a round, and I COULD have bought 9mm Luger at 8-9 cents a round... it spiked up in price just a few weekends ago.

AR-only shooter here. I just can't bring myself to spend money on such a FUGLY firearm and everytime I look at one, I think of OBL. Yeah, they seem to be good platforms, but so are Glocks and I won't want one of those layin' around either. I'll stick to my boring old AR/1911 platforms thank you.

I've bought  a couple thousand rounds in the last few weeks here.  yeah, it's a little pricey compared to a few years ago, but not that bad.  I haven't seen it for $74.99 a thousand like I used to at the gun show a few years back but it's still available.

Some vendors told me a year ago to get all the Port and SA .308 I could afford because there would probably be no more coming in.  I bought plenty of that back in August of this year and the vendors seem to have more than enough.  A guy I know up in Ohio who is at all the local shows informed me that he would have plenty of mil surp 7.62x39 as well as .308 at the next show here in October.
