I'm thinking of picking up a knife for my SHTF pack

From
www.knife-depot.com/knife-11244.html

Any one have one?
Any regrets?
Any better price?

If it's for SHTF I would save up and buy a decent custom. For about $100 more you can get a kick ass Strider that you can be sure will last for ever.

I'm not a fan. Too gimmicky for my tastes. YMMV.

That knife is more for defense/fighting than all purpose, not to mention expensive for what you want.
I would go with a Ontario RAT7 or similar for a robust all around blade that cost less than half of what the M.O.D. does.
And if you really don't mind spending 200+ then by all means go with a medium priced C. Reeves.

I have carried large knives and small knives.  I use my pocket knife/multi tools about a million times more than a large fixed blade knife.

A large knife like that should be used for utility, make sure it is quality metal and FULL TANG.  You can get a good knife for less than $100.

Get a Strider.  I like the D9 for something like that, although this one is available at Tad gear:

Here's the D9 from bluelinegear.com:

That's a shitty knife for SHTF use.

You might as well buy a Gil Hibben or something from United Cutlery.
