I got the plain wood/blue version - love it, but wish I would have gotten the stainless/lam version - very sweet.

All I can say is if you buy it, you'll love it.

My son and I have been hunting with the exact same rifle for about 3 years.  It is the squirrel killingest SOB I've ever shot.  When you pull the trigger, the rifle never moves.  If you can see a squirrel just peeking around a tree, he is history.  We love ours!!

Here is some pics of my rifle...

I have a Simmons AETEC 3.8x12x44AO scope on it...

Here is the 5 shot 50 yard groups...

I "floated" the barrel by placing a card under the action...

You know, there's a million fine looking rifles in the world, dude. But they don't all bring you lasagna at the range. Most of 'em just cheat on you.

Glock23C, you would have more stable bedding by using aluminum from a soda can.

I would get a CZ.  Of course, I did get a............CZ.

Marlins are very accurate guns.  Their triggers could use some work.

The adjustable single stage set trigger on a CZ is great, so you might want to consider them before making a final decision.

Here is a trick I used on my 2 Marlin 17 VS rifles...

The factory trigger wasn't the best in the world.  I changed out the spring with a spring from a papermate ink pen, about $1.00 at the local Office Max.  It made all the difference in the world.  This works on all of the Marlin bolt guns.

Take the lower screw out of the trigger, slip the trigger out, and the spring on the back side of the trigger is the one that you change out.  Takes it from 6+ pounds to a nice ~3 to 3.5 lb trigger.

After you do this, be sure to check it over and over to make sure it is safe.  Bump it with your hand, bump it on the floor, and check it over and over again.  The great thing about the 17 is that when you pull the trigger, the gun never moves.  You just hear the pop and see the hole appear in the target.  I have chrono'd my loads right at 2600 fps from my rifle.

Good shooting.

I've got the CZ American in .17 HMR. It is probably THE most fun gun I've bought for the money. I think its better looking than the Marlin but that's me. All the .17's seem to be accurate as all get out. My groups look just like teh ones posted earlier. 5 shots touching at 50.
