Nope, Carhart all the way. I like the idea of THESE though for those times I do carry.

I have a pea coat for dressier occasions.
German milsurp parka from Sportsmansguide for cold cold weather. Carhart for when I'm working. Swiss long wool coat, sort of like a pea coat. Etc. |

I have done alot of cold weather camping. without a tent.
I like to have a parka with a detachable hood. Also if I am not wearing a parka I prefer to have a Nylon shell that is water and wind proof, Gortex preferable. That way I can use layers, like synthetic fleece. NO COTTON AT ALL synthics: like nylon, spandex, polar fleece, polypropolene non synthics: Wool and silk. silk is awsome for sock liners and long underwear, it wicks the moisture away like polypropolene |

I have a jacket for around town(black sued), I have a working jacket(carhart) have a hunting jacket(M65 field jacket with liner) that I use for hunting animals, two and four legged.

I used a pea coat a long time ago.

I wear a wind breaker. When it really gets cold I wear a jacket. Than again I live where a cold front is in the upper 30's at night and mid 40's during the day. The other side of the story is the 98 to 105 during the summer which lasts from early June to end of October.

I have a Columbia Sportswear parka for when its really cold, but most of the time I either wear a Carhart jacket or a columbia polartec fleece in the winter.

I have a ski jacket shell that I have used for years. It is waterproof and windproof. If I need warm, I can add a sweater or something.

If you can find a real real pea coat in one of the Army-Navy Surplus stores, you'd be better off than with the Alpha. The pre-80 pea coats are thick, 100% wool, and are longer than the one pictured. You can tell the way the one pictured lays out, that it is not very thick. After 1980, then changed to a polyester-wool blend and it just wasn't as good as the 100% wool.

I had a kahki M65 with a Thinsulate liner from Brigade Quatermaster when I was in Dallas duirng Nov/Dec. Not quite warm enough for this So. Calif boy.

I mainly wear thermals and hooded sweatshirts for much of the winter. But alot of that has to do with the fact that I work in the cold weather, and my job requires that I be fairly mobile (hence no heavy coats).
But then, even on my off days, it's usually hooded sweat shirts and a flight jacket or harrington. Again, with thermals. I never have a problem staying warm in the aforementioned gear. |

No way, I'd wear a SS style black "panzer" wrap with officer silver piping. (actually i do
 ) They come without nazi insignia (you can sew your own) but cost a bundle 300$!! Can be found at various internet recreator sites like G-max and 'at the front' without the nazi stuff it looks really cool! I always get questions about where I got it. Then i mention the price!  I'm tellin ya the girls can't resist the closet Nazi nazi look!

I wear a Banana Republic photog's vest, jean jacket or a leather jacket...depending upon how cold it gets.
Last year, it didn't get cold much at all. It's too back BR doesn't make those vests anymore...they are just incredible for CCW. HH |

Last year of school they were quite fasionable; I wanted one, but couldn't justify the cost, even through surplus shops.
The M65 was reasonably warm. More importantly, P coats (and the greyish synthetic/scrap fiber yuppie coats) were heavy but thinner, and hid a concealed pistol very well, but swept out of the way easily. Metrotactical?

Here in the winter it's: Thermals under a turtleneck under a pullover polar fleece under a scarf under full length 6"thick wool topped with a hat and gloves. And that's just INDOORS! gah. Winter's coming...................<insert frozen smiley here> |

I have a columbia jacket that has a removable fleece liner. I wear the liner untill the cold parts of winter. The outer shell is fairly water resistant and stops the wind in its tracks.

I have a nice leather jacket. Stays warm, keeps me dry, looks good, and it blends in with the grass growing around our ranch.
Plus I can fit enough food for seven people in the pockets when we go to the movies.

I wear a Columbia shell similar to this one.

Before 8/13/05:
Around town-- Goretex rowing team outer shell, with a fleece pullover under if necessary... In the field-- Nylon jacket, again, with the fleece under if necessary. This winter... Whatever the sign at the sallyport says I'm wearing.

Besides my motorcycle leathers, all my jackets and coats are Carhartt. So are my jeans. They made good stuff. Winter in Minnesota - a Carhartt Traditional Coat / Arctic Quilt Lined, with just a T-shirt and sometimes my leather vest, is always enough coat.

is this a carhart or whatever maybe, not certain, winter clothes are somewhere in the closet, it was a present so not certain.
warm underlayers poncho liner jacket liner army poly pro shirt sweathshirts if it's not freezing I just use the layers topped with a light camo fleece hood, or sometimes just the poncho liner jacket if it's really cold, the coat in the photo over a warm layers the absolute warmest jacket I have is actually a light down filled miami dolphins starter jacket, it's from way back when and I'm to old for such a jacket, but sometimes on frezing winter nights I go with it when I go out with the dogs. I was in the navy for 9 months, after I got out of the army, so I also have a navy pea coat from the navy, rarely worn and in mint condition, but it doesn't go with anything, I never dress up that much. Heck of a coat though. It's been a while since I've worn a army field jacket. I might have mine somewhere in the attic, not certain. Not that any of this matters, but thus it is with being online..................... |
